Is your power valve clean, and moves freely? And don't forget to make sure the air filter is squeaky clean. How does the plug color look?

If there is a leak in the head gasket it will never run properly. Maybe the carburetor is plugged if it has sat for a while. The gas/oil mixture can go bad over time. The leak could be from a loose gas line. Or possibly even oil dripping from the oil filter if you just cleaned and re-oiled it.

Will not shift into first gear

Sounds like your clutch is out of adjustment, or needs to be bled. Most of the ktm's use a Magura hydraulic clutch which can be bled using Mineral Oil. DO NOT USE BRAKE FLUID.

How do i lower the throttle pin on 2001 ktm 300 exc

if you need you bike jetted for 7000, take it to a shop and have it jetted.
If you dont understand your carburetor and make the wrong adjustment you can lean out and blow up the engine.
when you jet a bike for 7000, you need to change everything, main jet, idle jet, idle mixture, idle, and needle position.

99 KTM BOGGS AT MID RANGE AND POPS THROUGH MUFFLER AND WONT IDLE

1. check for an intake leak in front of the carb, like broke carb gromet, carb flange o'ring/gasket leaking, or any broken or leaking vacuum lines. If the bike has been sitting for a while or has had little use, the carb is probably plugged up and needs cleaning.

Thank you for contacting FixYa with your inquiry.
This is a tough one but I have had similar problems with other bikes usually an upgrade for a chip in the ignition systems computer or black box.
In this case it sounds like the stator winding's. When it's cool all is well in runs normal. When heat transfers to the stator (Basically an Electric Motor with Winding's around it's poles) it expands and the winding's could be separating and/or shorting out. You could test the leads with a good ohmmeter (meg ohms) after your runs and see if there is a different reading then from when it's cold.
http://cyclehuttktm.com/FicheFinderNew/FicheFinder.aspx see figure #3 3 77139004000 STATOR $184.99 $184.99

This is not a cheap part but it should be a warranty item as new as this bike is.
Hope this helps get you in the right direction,
Best regards,

I would check and adjust the static ignition timing as if too far retarded it will tend to misfire at mid range revs. and suffer from lack of power at the top end.

What type coolent should i use and which gearbox oil shall i use

Hello. Go to any autoparts store and tell them what bike you have. they will cross reference their products and sell you the proper coolant and gear oil. Also, for your future reference, here is a downloadable complete service manual for your bike.

Kick start is jammed

Put the bike in 3rd, 4th or 5th gear, the higher the better. Sit on the bike, with your hand off the clutch lever, and rock the bike back and forth to rotate the clutch hub. This might free up the lever. You will need to drain the oil and remove the right side casing to see and service the kick starter. If I recall correctly, there is a spring clip that allows the kick gear to engage the clutch hub. The piece could be broken, weak or out of position.
