because it comes on sometimes and then stops working for no reason.there is a loose connection behind your bike meter u can try to check at the coonection from the c.d.i. units to your meter which the all connection is behind the meter

that's funny -- sorry.. seriously though, there is a sensor which is electronically powered to read your speed. You can find the details in a haynes or chiltons repair manual - try your local library to see if you can check one out...

I have 4 dodge caravans. Everyone one of them does this we take it on the freeway get up over 60 mph and it will kick back around. I'm serious it will work fine after. Everyone can do this. I run a small taxi business and we only use dodge caravans.
