you have a short to ground somewhere. Look for worn wires, loose connections, any work recently done.

SOURCE: 97 audi a4 no power/battery fuse?

Sounds like either the battery leads are on the wrong way round, or the starter main cable is touching something and shorting to earth. Retrace your steps and check your connection locations.
Either that or its a dead short through the starter. Remove main cable from back of starter and tape up incase of short. then reconnect battery. If ok now then your looking at starter motor.

SOURCE: car will not start

Try running a wire from the little terminal of the starter motor to the Positive on the battery , Disconnect the little wire thats on there first. No need to turn the key on as we are bypassing this. This should cause the starter to turn.Make sure that if its a manual that its in Neutral.
If the starter motor turns then the problem is either the relay or the ignition switch.Or if its an automatic Transmission it could be the inhibitor switch .
Hope this helps
Cheers
George

Where is the alternator fuse located on a 2006 BMW 330I?

If the alternator is charging the battery it will not be the fuse. The alternator would simply stop working if the fuse has blown.
If the battery isn't holding charge you might have a power drain somewhere in the vehicle. Something in the electrics may not be turning off correctly and draining the battery. Do you have any warning lights on the dash? Have you access to an OBD2 scanner to check for any Trouble Codes?
If it is a power drain the simplest fix is to get a good Auto Electrician to check the vehicle. Finding a power drain or an electrical short can be a real pain in the tail bone job because there is so much electronics on a car. Paying an expert to do it is a lot quicker and easier as they have the right tools to do it.

Lost power steering, car died, changed battery, and barley made it home. The battery has power, but when you turn the key on the dome light and other lights, radio, windows, etc don't work.

Sounds like the vehicle is not charging you may need a new alternator get the car going with jump leads again and test the voltage at the battery terminals with a DC volt meter expect 13.5-14.5 if you get less than 13.5 your alternator is bad or wiring fault also check the alternator belt is tight.

2006 550i BMW What causes it to stop charging the battery

All modern vehicles have belts to drive the Alternator system which keeps the battery charged. The belt can get old and slip or even a new belt can get oil or anti-freeze on it and slip and then the battery gauge should show a low charging condition. There is also a main fuse on most cars after 1995 and on some earlier ones > Check your owners manual for fuse and main relays. The index should show you what page and then look and see if you have a main " PDC " or Power Distribution Center next to your battery. It should tell you in the manual which is the main fuse for the Alternator System. They can be anywhere from as low as 40 amp fuse to 60 amp and on certain vehicles higher. Pull the fuse if you have a PDC and look to see if it is blown. If not make sure your belt is adjusted correctly and look for any broken wires near the alternator or battery. that should help you start to find the problem...

Lost all power while driving. Jump started car but lost all power once again after I drove for a quarter of a mile. Do I need a new battery or do I have a problem with my alternator?

can be either on or both. if you have a volt meter handy get the car started and place the leads on the terminals on the battery, if the alternator is working you should have over 13 volts indicated.

1998 BMW R 1100 RT starter won't turn over. Bike won't start.

Alex ,
the battery is not your problem . it sound more like the starter motor giving you grief or alternator or regulator .
The electronic system on these are Bosch which are very sensitive to fluctuations of power .
Now when your starter draw power it really sucks power out of your battery and hopefully you have enough for the rest of the appliances .
the hard line of all this is that the battery may look good and hold the charge for a while but once the starter motor draw power to start the bike , you have very little power left to service the rest of power needed for the electronics . Make sure the alternator give you enough charge , test it while running , it should give you between 13.5 V to 14.8 V output or see if you accelerate the bike the headlight becomes brighter . If the light stays dole or dimms while giving a bit of gas , your alternator or regulator has a problem and will have to be tested and replaced .
have a look at all this and let me know how you go
