Check to make sure the filter isn't plugged. If it is good, look below the filter and see if it touches or interferes with the governor spring or the governor rod on the carbueratior linkage. Thos are anout the only situations where an air filter would keep an engiine from running. Marvin.

Roger Hi, It sounds like the air filter need replacing for a new one. Try first washing it with some mild detergent then dry completely. When it's dry put a tiny bit of oil on to stop any dirt getting through and replace it.

Engine will not start

Spray some either into the air filter. If it starts and runs for a few seconds then it is not getting fuel. If it won't start it may be getting too much fuel. Verify that there are no vacuum leaks and that the bowl of the carb has gas in it.

Remove air filter cover. Remove air filter. Remove the 3 10mm screws mounting the air filter housing assembly and carb to motor. You will need new gaskets to install the new carb. Gaskets: 16221-883-800 2ea., 16212-ZL8-000, 16228-ZL8-000, and the gasket for the back of the air cleaner mount 17228-ZMO-000. You can buy the carb for these on line for about $14, 16100-Z0L-023. Most take a NGK PLUG BPR6ES.

Exceive fuel is being burned but not so much as to turn the cheak engine light on? How bad is it ? 10 MPG? things to check; Fuel pressure both high or low will cause problems. Timing, most can't be changed , but timing belts can jump off a tooth to standard and it'll have reduced compression less power then burn more fuel. Lack of oil and filter changes, both the oil ( makes the engine drag) ( fume), and the air filter. If you live in a non dusty area you can ty running one tank of feul with the air filter removed , if this helps the filter should be replaced. If it appears dirty replace it anyway.

Troy built mower honda 160 engine oil leak around governer shaft. no oil seal but shows one on parts breakdown. Can not find part number for shown seal.

Drain oil from mower until proper level. Remove spark plug and pull starter rope several times to blow out cylinder. Spray starter fluid in cylinder pull rope several times to clean out. Replace fouled plug with new spark plug. Remove air cleaner, ensure no oil present, replace filter as needed. Clean air filter box with carb cleaner. Install new air filter reattach filter cover. Prime engine, pull starter rope 1/2 way 4 times to help prime, then pull starter rope fully up to 10 times to start.

How do you adjust a honda lawnmower carburetor: lost of power don't want to go. I took the filter off and it had power i put the filter back on and lost power again

I have a Honda HRR2162TDA lawnmower and I cannot get it running. I have replaced the spark plug, the blade and the air filter and it still will not turn over.

Hi,

These are the procedures.......

First remove and replace the spark plugs.

Check the piston by using the kick start if it still loose.

Change the engine oil and oil filter

Drain the old fuel and put a new fuel and filter.

Replace/pull out the air filter, just to start the engine remove the air filter.

Clean the electrical connections and replace the battery.

Check the brakes and clean the brake shoe/pads and linkages.

Your ready to start that engine!

Honda 160cc mower engine starts and dies.

Your carbeurator is crudded up. Get a can of aerosol carbeurator cleaner at any auto parts store. Remove the air filter and spray two squirts of cleaner into the air intake. Start the engine and keep it running by squirting more carb. cleaner into the air intake. WIth a little patience you will clean your carb. and solve your problem.
