shocks are not springs at all they are just motion dampeners.
the put new coil springs rear
means THEY? who is they, ok a shop.
They DID I WRONG, TAKE IT BACK
Did you got to a Low RIder shop? LOL !
they should not have ever put in coil sparings
unless you said car rides lower than stock.

or they cheated you. (called building ticket in the business) evil.
Hi Don:
Have you checked to see if it's brake fluid?
Is it possible that the slave cylinder is leaking and the fluid is coming ot from the brakes? I can't think of any oil source in that area.
bottoming out usually means rear air shocks have gone out or if in the front bad struts ,is the air pump coming on should here it when you start car and put weight in the rear
are u sure not coming out of shock 7 running down on the rubber part. are u sure its not brake fluid coming from brake line or wheel cylinder. how much is leaking & how often????
> Does this vehicle have shock absorbers or leaf springs?
It would be either leaf or coil springs; shock absorbers serve to prevent that continued bouncing and these may be simply shot.
The crude way of checking shocks still works somewhat:
- Position yourself on each corner of the vehicle and through repeated pushing down and letting the corner come back up, get some momentum and then let go at the bottom of the cycle.
If the shocks (which may be located within coil springs- McPherson struts) are still effective, the vehicle should rise slightly once and then settle.
If they are blown, there will be some continued 'overshoot.'
The leaked fluid can be checked for odor; brake fluid is pretty distinctive while lubricants will smell somewhat like oil or grease.
This could be from a shock but most are now gas filled rather than with a type of hydraulic fluid.
im not that familiar with hummers but it sounds like youve found the end of the transmission vent hose or possibly the front differential vent hose and they will have seepage of oil sometimes. however if its a constant oil drippage, then there could be a buildup of pressure inside tranny or rearend. if u follow the hose down to its beginning youll know if its the trans. or differential(rearend). it might be normal to see this fluid,or it could be too much fluid inside trany/rear.
you could replace the one shock but do you know why it is leaking oil? Typically unless there was something traumatic to happen to one of the rear shocks, then if one is going you can almost be the other one will go soon. I ended up having too many problems with the air ride suspensions. If you haven't yet, look into conversion kits as something to consider for down the road if nothing else. www.strutmasters.com has a great kit that is made in America and comes with a lifetime warranty. They have a good reputation and track record and can help you save some money and find the permanent solution if anything else goes wrong.
