either your float has got stuck so that the petrol flow into your carburettors does not stop or the needle and seat is stuck or worn, You might have also changed the float level adjustment. remove the carbs and open the bowls to check.

Hey Pam,
If you decide not to pull all the fuel from the carb and take it all apart, etc.,. try adding a nice dose of some LUCAS Fuel Treatment to the fuel tank and run engine till fuel tank is dry... this is the simplest, fastest, easiest method which should provide sufficient solution to your question..
PS> If your local library does not have a Haynes or Chilton's manuals for your year, make, model -- ask if they can ship a copy in from another branch...
PSS> There may also be an online service to which you can subscribe to access the repair manual(s?), I've not had time to look into these and have always preferred the printed version myself...

a clymer manual shows procedure--paint remover or a carb solution will rid the varnish--the stuf in cans for dollar doesnt work--u need to take carbs off and soak them--library has cycle books too
