I installed new plug and Battery. I drained out old gas and still have trouble getting it to turn over

Sounds like what you realy need to do is remove the carb jets and give them a good clean , this if I am right is the twin V 8 valve engine with twin Klhein carbs , make sure also your air filter is not dirty and check tank fuel filter ,, other than that you may be intrested in the manuel obtainable from this site

Check the spark plug to see if is sparking. Hold the metal threads against the metal cylinder and have a friend kick the engine over. If no spark, use an ohmmeter to check the kill switch on the bars and also the side-stand kill switch if your bike has one. Check the wires for a loose connection or disconnected wire.
