Will not rev past 4,000 RPM 1996 Triumph Tiger

WIll the bike idle ok? .. or does the idle tend to "float" around before settling down? (Valves are too tight).. if the are way too loose.. it might not rev..but it would be clicking like (*%$)*_!!!!
Carb sync must be perfect... double check ignition timing and spark plug wire routing! Maybe time to take it to a professional..

My triumph tiger 900 (885) starts and runs perfectly,then after 2 or 3 miles cuts out suddenly,there is fuel in the carbs so i think its an electricle problem,when this happens the rev counter drops...

Check the battery itself. Your battery may have gone bad, and is not staying above the lowest needed volts to run the tach etc. And worst case, there is something wrong with your charging system. Your regulator/rectifier might not being doing their jobs. I suspect the battery first and the charging system second. Good luck.

Will only start with direct feed or starter fliud

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If after the "...start with direct feed or starter fliud...", the bike will idle / run correctly, then it is not a carb problem. If will not idle / run correctly, then a carb problem.

Initially, it would appear that the problem would be restricted fuel flow from the tank through the petc0ck (fuelcut off valve). A way to check is to drain carb bowls individually, compare quantity and quality of fuel from each. Guesstimate if the collected / drained fuel is about right for the bowl size.

If on the otherhand, it is a carb issue (float closing early hence too little fuel in the bowl), then a carb pulldown maybe required. The illustration here would give you an exploded parts diagram.

This CV carb tuning procedures may interest you.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

JUST A SHOT IN THE DARK ON THIS.

TRY DISCONECTING THE POSITIVE POWER CABLE ON YOUR BATTERY,AND WAIT TEN OR TWENTY MIN.THEN PUT THE POSITTIVE BACK ON IT.

SEE IF THAT WILL RESET IT.

Tiger triumph 2008 brand new wont start... help

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

If I may suggest:
  • re-charge fully the battery. It may have run down on the previous tries;
  • thereafter, switch IGN to ON and verify pump running felt on the tank;
  • neutral, engine switch ON, IGN switch ON, clutch IN, start.
Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.
