SOURCE: new starter but car wont start
funny...you have just told me what is wrong with it!!!
check power in, power out at the ignition switch...likely it has failed. switch is on the top of the steering column under the dash and is sometimes easier to reach if you disconnect the column from the dash and permit the sterering wheel to rest on the seat.
SOURCE: My 2002 Grand Am will not start
I have a 2002 Grand Am also. I had this same problem twice. The first time it happened, the battery was still working but was not strong enough to crank the car or make any noise under the hood at all. All electrical stuff worked though (lights, radio, etc). So i bought a new battery and everything was back to normal.
The 2nd time this happened, the passlock system was shot (the passlock system is a type of security device the car has installed in it.) When i inserted the key, everything worked, but nothing coming from the engine. I had to take the car to a dealership and get it replaced for around $400. If you look online you can find other ways to avoid the dealership and fix it yourself, but that could result in making something else not work as well.
Hope this helps in some way.

try turning the engine by hand and giving it another try...if able as the starter is out of the way look at the teeth on the flywheel make sure they are not chewed up. if so there is your problem and a big job to replace that...if not just buy another starter and give it a try...your old starter my be having problems engaging the teeth...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, try starting with the clutch lever pulled in and / or the sidestand folded up. Additionally, determine if there is a clicking sound. If there is, then it would most likely be the starter solenoid.
Good luck and thank yu for asking FixYa.
SOURCE: is there a reset switch on 2007 gsxr 750. wont start
You have some crushed wiring along the frame. Check the wiring from the switch along the frame under the seat for a rub or a pinch in the insulation. It has a short causing the lights to flash.
