The drain plug is on the left side of the oil reservoir pointing towards the front of the bike. The motor should be warm when you dump the oil and the o-ring should be replaced as an extra precaution (don't want to waste that new oil if you have a drip). When replacing the oil filter use a piece of tin foil to divert the oil to your waste pan.

How do you repair leaking transmission oil on 2003 road king?

Take out the screws, drain the oil, remove the gasket and use brake cleaner to clean the thread holes and screws. Then put sealer like permatex on the gasket and the screws and put in back together.

CAN'T FIND THE OIL DRAIN PLUG ON MY (NEW TO ME) 2003 ROAD KING.

On the Road King, the oil pan is on the bottom of the transmission. Usually the engine oil drain plug is the one closest to the left front of the pan. The transmission oil drain is also under there so make sure the right oil is coming out. If it looks too clean, you're probably draining the transmission.

Good Luck

Trying to change the oil in my 2003 road king classic. Took out the screws for oil to run out but nothing is coming out. Any ideas?

The oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. If you look under the bike, the oil drain is drain plug closest to the left front of the tank. The drain closest to the center drains the transmission. Check the oil in both the engine and transmisson before starting the engine.

How to change transmission pan gasket

Drain the engine oil and transmission oil. Remove the bolts and drop the pan. Install a new gasket and reinstall the pan. No problem. I usually allow the transmission to sit overnight if I can and let most of the oil drip out.

Good luck

Location of oil drain plug on harley davidson road king

The tank on your Road King is on the bottom of the transmission. Look underneath the transmission and you'll see two drain plugs. The plug on left front of the oil pan is the engine oil drain. The plug near the center of the pan is the transmission drain plug. Good Luck, Steve

How to change oil in 2006 HD road king

The oil tank in a Road King is on the bottom of the transmission. If you look under the transmission, you will see two drain plugs. One for the engine oil and one for the transmission. I THINK the plug closest to the left side of the bike is the engine oil. I say "I think" because the latest model that I have personally changed the oil in is a 2000 model. Drain the oil, change the filter, add new oil. If you accidently drain the transmission (check the engine oil dipstick, if it still shows oil in the tank, you drained the wrong one), the transmission takes 20-24 ounces of Harley Syn3 oil. Best to refer to an owner's manual or go to your local dealer and ask the question.

Oil change on 05 road king

I typed out a Real Long dissertation of how to do this step by step, and all of my tricks. Forgot what the primary oil amount is to refill, don't have access to my manuals. (Gloomy day for an old biker)

Went to find this info, and there's an old Harley mechanic, (Kinda' looks like me!), that has a step by step Video of how to do an oil change on a Road King!

Here it is,
