SOURCE: Float setting for BS34ss carb

I have a set my float to 22.0 +- 1.0 for a Mikuni carb.
To set floats, drain the carbs, pull the carbs from the bike invert and remove float bowl.
With the carb inverted, take off the float bowls. Take off the gasket. Use a vernier caliper or an accurate device to measure from the carb body to the top of the float block.
Here is are a couple of good sites about carbs and such.

SOURCE: floats not set

Float tabs come set flat to surrounding plate, bend up to decrease level and down to raise level. Raised level too much and you risk fuel overflow on sustained inclines and too low a level and you will lean out at high revs and damage valves/piston real quick. There is no set level to speak of, but better to err on the side of losing a bit of overflow. The overflow drains from the carby via a plastic hose from just above float bowl flange.
Cheers.

What are the correct float heights in the carb for a derbi cross city 125???

Float height is not related to time. This is a very technical area (carb adjustment) best left to the pros who have the skills, knowledge and equally important, the measurement tools to properly adjust a carb. Time is an entirely different thing.

Problem with starting my bike

Sticking floats or worn float valve needles or incorrect float height, tap float bowls to see it overflow stops (sticky float), remove and clean float bowls and fuel inlet passage with carb cleaner and compressed air, check float valve for wear to the rubber tip. Reset float height by slightly bending the metal tab on the float to adjust the closing height of the valve measure from the carb bowl mating surface to the top of the float when fitted then re adjust 1mm at a time higher untill fuel doesnt over flow.

Ducati 2002 monster wotn start. i think it migh be the carb.

If it has carbs there will be two, they are not likely to fail together, drain the fuel out of both of them, fit two new spark plugs and make certian the battery is good

Hi what do i do if my 1997 ducati 900 monster leaks fuel out of the over flow every time i start it.

it will need the carbs serviced, as something must be stuck in the float valve jet.

It might help to drain the cabs completely, this will allow the floats to drop to the bottom of the bowls and hopefully the dirt in the float valve will clear as well, it only takes something small to cause a problem like a hair

Fuel leaking from air box after shutting down

Hi
Thats the float valve seals not shutting off, did you clean them & set the float heights?
The overflows from the carb bottoms must also be blocked for the fuel to fill up the carbs which then leaks into the air filter
Check also that the fuel tap turns off when bike is not running

Hi, carb. shooting up gas & flooding on 1989 Dodge D50 2.0L mits

also check the float level, if not set to the right height float will cause too much gas to be sent to the bowl. you do this by bending the small tab on the back of the float. one way makes the float shut off sooner and the other makes it shut off fuel later. also check the fuel air mixture no small task on the mikuni carb.
