Back firing is normally due to two things,

Ignition timing happening at the wrong time. This can be over advanced where it back fires through the carbs, and retarded when it fires through the exhaust.

Unburnt fuel in the exhaust can cause detonation by hot gases or carbon..

Yours is strange that it is happening in both places! That can be caused by badly sealing valves, but you have the compression?

Have you checked ignition timing?

this problem can be attributed to uncontrolled ignition activation either from a bad connection or problem ignition control module
the fire from both valves indicates that the ignition module is faulty and allowing a spark when ever it wants to and not at the correct timing

I have a 2004 gxsr 1000 with fault code c42. It wont start. oil light is flashing and displays FI on the temp. Bike just crank but will not fire it up. Help?

Grab a paperclip.

Place the bike in Neutral, and take the rear seat cowling off. On the side of the bike between the tail section and the trunk you will find a connector that is covered by a rubber cap, and has two wires running into it. Remove the cap and take note of which one of the 4 sockets the two wires go to. Turn the bike ON and start it up, short the wires out with the paperclip. Where your speedo was flashing a -CHEC- with the temp should now be a CXX error code. Write this code down. Then shut the bike off. Match the code up with the list below. Grab a Manual and get to work!

(What you have just done is put the bike into "Dealer Mode".

C14 - THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR

My 2001 ford tauras sounds like its gonna stall when you first start it and after a few minutes it will pick up and smooth out. Have changed the plugs and wires, coil pack, temperature sensor, idle air...

clean the throttle body. main cause of your problem.there might be a sticker on throttle body saying dont clean it because of some anti dirt coating but disreguard ive never had a problem after claening them and ive done hundreds.

99 tahoe, changed fuel filter, and poured some gas in the throttle body and it will start.

i am assuming that this vehicle will not start without the gas poured into the throttle body? If so then there is a fuel dilevery problem which can be coming from injectors that are not firing due to clogged injectors or a malfunctioning injection pulse. or clogged fuel delivery system which is most probaly not the case due to you changing the fuel filter, or a bad fuel pump. you have some testing ahead of you.

Engine wont fire until fuel is poured in throttle body

1993 s-10 should have a 4.3 engine. Your symptoms tell me your throttle body injector is clogged, and only allows so much fuel to pass through it. Therefore, on a idle there is not enough fuel coming through to keep the engine running, or to start it. If you replace the throttle body injector your issue should cease.

I hope this information helps you, and I wish you luck on your repair.
