Question about Tomos Motorcycles

Open Question

Need help Tomos 1986 bullet will not start if peddle it backward the spark is strong only 135 original miles, has compression, is the throttle screw on the twist grip possibly a problem?

How do you know that the spark is weak?
Replace spark plug.
Check spark plug wire for leaks.
Replace fuel.
Clean points and reset.
If there is a battery check that it is at 12.5 during starting.

is there a spark a decent one if not try changing plugs if still no spark it could only be the cdi,coil and magneto get back to me buddy

The air/fuel screws won't have any effect on the top end. That would be governed by the main jet. Did you install the Boyseen Reeds? If this is a new addition it could be the problem. Another thing could be the fuel level in the carburetor bowl. When you tore down the carb it is possible the float got out of adjustment. You could drop the bowl and see if the fuel level is correct. If not, bend the tab on the float to adjust it.

recheck the carbuator...blow compressed air to its jets.Check the float level.Try fitting a new spark plug.

most likely your idle is to high,,,,, and it is engaging the clutch,,,,lower your idle,,,,,slowly,,,,step by step,,,,till the rear wheel stops spinning,,, remember,,,,, with no one on the bike,,there is very little resistance,,,,, so the wheel will spin easily,,,,,adjust your low side r.p.m.,, and that should solve your problem,,,,,if it dosen't,,, your clutch is probably siezed up,,,, and will have to be replaced. where your throttle cable goes into the top of the carb. ,,, this is where you set your idle,,,,, the set screw is only for adjusting your richness,,,,,or lean fuel mixture,,,,, not your idle,,,

I have a tomos silver bullet moped 49cc i try to peddle backwards to start but it wont turn over or even move backwards is there a leaver on the handle bars to in gage the starting position

Just because an engine turns over doesn't mean it will ever start. Does it have spark to the spark plugs? Does it have fuel pressure to the throttle body? Does it have compression? How many miles are on it?

Jeep hard starting and wont idle
which engine option? 4L I-6? four liter inline 6?
tune up ever? or at 60k mile service points?
hard starts are:
1: low compression.
2: weak spark (tune ups)
3: bad fueling.

will it starter easier with WOT, throttle (wide open) ? cleans fooding.
or 10% throttle.? (bad ISC, this works great)
so when it does start, can you use the throttle to keep in going???????
are the spark tips black and soaking in fuel?
or are they white/or cream/lt. tan and dry.
if dry does test fuel start car?

all my posts assumed tuned up.. no mech beats head on dead sparkplugs at $100/hr. not ever. so

My tomos revival ran fine then started losing power and droped in speed whay do I look for, plug is fine carb clean, air cleaner clean bike has 1200 senior miles

Well i always do the easier method to find out the problem.
hers a few things to do to determine whats wrong.
1st pull spark plug and do compression test, a blown head gasket will lose compression.
if the gasket is blown then the compression test will read a low psi and drop suddenly
2nd worn piston rings will lose compression, the compression test will read a very low psi below 100 psi and may leak right down depending on how worn the rings are.

that would make you lose power.
have it tested to see which it is.

either way, a lose of power in the motor is caused by lose of compression in the motor.
you can do the test your self, you can buy a compression tester pretty cheap, just make sure you don't cross thread the connectors.

Need to know about carb adjustment for tomos st sept 2010 question 1 the screw adjust questtion 2 finger turn adjustment what do either do and if totally screwed in how many turns out do i do...
LIGHTLY seat the air screw and the throttle screw. Now open both of them up one and one-half turns. Adjust idle speed with the throttle screw. Normally, the throttle screw sticks out about 1/2" to 3/4" from the throat of the carb. The air screw is short and usually recessed. If the screws have been tightened down anything more than lightly, the screw seat may have indented the screw face. If the face is ringed, the engine usually will not run well. The screws would need to be replaced. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

110cc atv wont start got gas and spark but dont start..
There are three things required for combustion to occur: Fuel, compression, and a spark (at the right time). One, or more, of these is/are missing.
If the bike has been in storage for more than about a year, then you can bet that the carburetor is plugged up. It will need to be completely disassembled and cleaned.
Also, check the compression. if it has a four stroke engine, it should be capable of developing at least 135 psi of compression (throttle wide open, choke fully open). If the compression is low (and it is a four stroke engine), check the valve tappet clearances. Insufficient tappet clearance will cause low compression.
