2005 ford five hundred replaced battery went into engine failsafe mode n will only idle no throttle response I replaced throttle body assembly just sits and idles
I've checked wiring it's fine
Codes p2112 p2104 throttle forced idle and forced closed stated a 2nd time I replaced whole throttle body assembly
I've done relearn procedures multiple times
When I hit the accelerator pedal it revs a tiny bit but will then start to to sputter with no more response
Re: 2005 ford five hundred replaced battery went into...
Try using the scan tool to reset the ECM program
code p 2104 refers to throttle actuator control(TAC) system---forced idle mode ===causes ---wiring--TAC motor ---APP ensor--ECM
code p 2112 refers to throttle control actuatorTAC system---actuator stuck closed ===causes ---throttle body, throttle valve tight/ sticking
or TAC system--circuit malfunction===causes wiring short to positive ---short to ground ---throttle position sensor--- ECM

Why would you just buy a used computer instead of reading the codes with a scan tool and fixing the issues that put it into Limp Mode. It is often something as simple as replacing a $18 sensor. Your ECU needs programming with VIN Number and the mileage so you need an auto-electrician anyway.
Rough idle is probably a throttle body and MAF that needs cleaning or they may have failed. It may also be the Throttle Position Sensor. Limp Mode keeps you in first and 3,000 rpm. Limp Mode only saves you from damaging the engine. Get it on a pro grade scan tool computer in a repair shop.

It should be noted that the ETC system includes a warning indicator (wrench light) on the instrument cluster that illuminates when a fault is detected. Faults are accompanied by DTCs and may also illuminate the malfunction indicator lamp (MIL).
Torque Based Electronic Throttle Control (ETC)
Overview
The Generation II (Gen II) torque based electronic throttle control (ETC) is a hardware and software strategy that delivers an engine output torque (via throttle angle) based on driver demand (pedal position). It uses an electronic throttle body, the PCM, and an accelerator pedal assembly to control the throttle opening and engine torque. The ETC system replaces the standard cable operated accelerator pedal, idle air control (IAC) valve, 3-wire throttle position sensor (TPS), and mechanical throttle body.
Torque based ETC enables aggressive automatic transmission shift schedules (earlier upshifts and later downshifts). This is possible by adjusting the throttle angle to achieve the same wheel torque during shifts, and by calculating this desired torque, the system prevents engine lugging (low RPM and low manifold vacuum) while still delivering the performance and torque requested by the driver. It also enables many fuel economy/emission improvement technologies such as variable cam timing (VCT) (deliver same torque during transitions).
Torque based ETC also results in less intrusive vehicle and engine speed limiting, along with smoother traction control.
Other benefits of ETC are:
Eliminate cruise control actuators.
Eliminate idle air control (IAC) valve.
Better airflow range.
Packaging (no cable).
More responsive powertrain at altitude and improved shift quality.
Fail safe is TPS sensor. When you go in fail safe the vehicle give a set amount of RPM and no throttle response the rule of thumb in fail safe is APP1 and APP2 does not agree the goal is to protect the catalytic convertor. So if the transmission was at fault you dont over rev to end up burning the Cat. Or over rev to break the engine It all boils down to a throttle body assembly as the solution
all the codes point to throttle body. clean throttle body, especially around throttle plate. check for loose wires, if problems persist. replace throttle body. p2104 is tac system forced idle, p2111 is tac system stuck open, p2112 is tac system stuck closed. clean throttle body good, and see if this fixes it. then go from there. have a good day !!
I have hearing a lot of this lately with Fords. Most of the time this dash board light comes on due to problems with the Throttle Body (TB)not just your coolant,etc.. If it is sticking, dirty, causing misfires, etc. then this can cause an engine fail safe mode. You might first try putting in some injector cleaner and a higher grade of gas. Many people I know who have had this problem have had to have their TB cleaned and/or replaced. This is something Ford dealerships now about, but hasn't been made a recall or anything. There are service bulletins though.Mainly keeping cleaner in your gas and performing ritual tune-ups/oil changes may be the only thing you can do.Hope this helps
all codes point towards a throttle body malfunction. try cleaning the throttle body first. check for loose wires. if problem persists. replace throttle body.
Sounds to me like the mass airflow meter, cutting in and out. When faulty it can completely shut a car off, and also ingauge limp mode. I hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
