Will only run with choke closed,is run on propane

First make sure your choke circuit is working. May be an indication that your carb needs to be cleaned. I wouldn't replace it yet= clean it. If the choke circuits and the carb check out fine. An unresponsive motor/ carb usually means bad valves or valve timing. Example: it runs rich, spits fuel out the carb no matter how lean you set it. Even with the idle air closed it runs rich... intake valve is not closing or closing late. In that case it needs valves serviced.

Try cleaning or changing the air filter. If it dirty the engine will not stay running with out the choke on.

not supposed to... only supposed to start with choke closed...Now if you mean will not run unless choke is closed I would suggest removing and cleaning the carb...

choke should be open to run & closed to start only.or are you writing this backwards

Choke open is the run correct position. If you close the choke, you cut of the air flow to carburetor.

let it warm up with choke closed manually after it starts to stall with choke closed open it and dont let it stall u can learn to play with the choke a little to get it to run right GOOD LUCK!

when the choke is fully closed your choking the fuel out,, thats why when you give i t gas it dies , its not supposed to run with the choke on and getting fuel , use the choke only until the motor warms up to operating temp,, then open it,, and you should be fine,

The engine is starved for fuel. Check fuel flow. Possibly a dirty fuel filter someplace in the line or the regulator has low flow.

You can verify this by putting an UNLIGHTED Bernz propane torch into the intake. If that improves it, then low fuel flow is the culprit.

Fuel filters for propane are very fine and can plug up easily. I am not sure where yours are, however I would check at the inout of the regulator for one there for sure.

You can start with the choke closed but you must open it up once it start running.

Take the air cleaner cover off and look see if choke is opening. Depending on model should be spring choke but could be elect. Onan has good files on their web site.
