Question about Power Motorcycles

Stalls when choke is opened.

The site keeps posting this question to the Motorcycle forum, even from within the correct forum. Sorry for the cross post. I bought the machine used knowing that the engine stalls when the choke is opened. I figure it'd be an easy fix, but it hasn't been. I've done everything I know how to do: Took apart the carb and cleaned all parts thoroughly, ran fuel treatment through the line, replaced power jet nozzle, adjusted mixture and idle, etc. The thing starts right up every time, but as soon as I start to open the choke, the engine stalls out. I don't even have to move the choke to one of its three positions. Just opening it the tiniest crack is enough to cause a stall. I've thought of just replacing the carb, but I can't see how this would help given everything I've done. Anyone have any ideas that I've missed?

If you adjusted idle to spec with the choke on, you need to do it again with a fully warm engine. Try turning up the idle with the choke on, to around 3k rpm, then see if you can back off on the choke.
You have a fueling issue - have you done carbs before? there are internal passages and settings that must be cleaned and adjusted.

Why does my 2006 suzuki escudo idle too high once the engine has warmed up, almost like the automatic choke is jammed on but revs are higher than when choke is on

first off no 2006 has choke, i now you are not here, in uSA.
this engine, no size stated or name.
IS this the G16 engine, post a photo of engine,, and we can tell you, every time.
here are the engines used on all 2nd gen Escudo's

1.6 L G16B I4 (petrol)
2.0 L J20A I4 (petrol)
2.5 L H25A V6 (petrol)
2.0 L RF/RFM I4 (diesel)
2.0 L RHW/RHZ I4 (diesel))

the g16 never races, if there are vacuum leaks.
it stalls. or low RPM
high RPM on this G16 is caused by ISC failures.
we clean them every 60k miles, like the book asks.
this engine has EFI , electronic fuel injection and has 16valve head, and the fuel is metered via a MAF sensor.
the ECU controls hot idle all them time
there is a cold start air valve, called IAC,
this is pure thermal device below the throttle body.
and can stick open ,
or the engine does not reach 180f the ISC will no close
even a newone will not close until 150f is crossed !
also not getting coolant changes, the water line to the IAC valve will clog and make it fail, clean that clog and it now works
also the TV can gunk up

see that throttle body , inside is the TV, the throttle valve
it can do this.

this G16 site covers all failures

gunk 101 clean it, or the TV sticks open

Motorcycle will start when choke is out but stalls when choke is pushed in

Carbs needs to be taken apart and cleaned. What I did with my GL 1500 SE was put in some Amsoil Carb cleaner(don't recall the proper name at this time) for cars in the gas tank and within a tank or so, it straightened right up. This may not be recommended by all but mine never run better.

Stalls when I stop

i do not know what motorcycle you have ?
but i detect you may have a choke problem
some motorcycles have a manual choke
and some have an automatic choke

automatic choke comes on with the ignition and
goes off when the motorcycle gets to normal running temperature
hopefully it could be a just a relay that operates your choke
but the other problem with automatic chokes are
if the motorcycle is only used for short journey's
it does not give the bike chance to get up to normal running temperature
eventually the choke will seize up in the closed position
this will make it feel like the engine is choking out as you described
to repair this you will need to remove the carburetor's find out where the choke is
take it apart and clean it up and reassemble the choke mechanism and reassemble the carburetors
refit them to the motorcycle

if your choke is a manual choke
there is a good chance your choke is seized in the closed position
if so it means that the bar between your carburetors that operates the choke has seized
to repair this take the carburetors off
find the bar that operates the choke
and spray some fine oil and move it around until it frees off the mechanism
then refit the carburetors to the bike and give it another go

good luck
ride safe

My bike stalls umless the choke is engaged almost half way. Is this just a tune up or is the fuel system (filter) bad?

The carburator/s need cleaning, it seems, either the fuel level in the float chamber is low or the jets are clogged with dirt.
visit this site --->
It gives you the general idea how to go about the process though the carburators in there may not be of your type.
Good Luck, hope this helps!.

Bike starts buts stalls within seconds..plugs are wet

seems to me you are getting too much fuel. and/or, you are not allowing your bike to warm up properly. and/or you have a choke issue. and/or you need a little hotter spark plug in this 15 year old motorcycle.

It may be worth a trip to the motorcycle shop to see what they can do for you. You can probably NOT adjust the carb or other fuel system unless you have lots of expensive equipment.
