My 2008 Yamaha r6's tachometer will move up when revving in neutral, but will sit at 0rpm while in gear and riding. Everything else electronically works well on the bike, any ideas?

SOURCE: 2008 Yamaha TW200 will not move when clutch released

Here are the possibilities > > Bent clutch push rod, missing push rod ball bearing or push rod, worn out actuator shaft cam, Missing friction disk (5), or pressure plate (4), totally worn out friction disks, clutch plates not installed in the correct sequence, extremely weak clutch springs, stripped teeth on the clutch hub, wrong clutch cable length (inner cable vs outer cable), broken shaft, bent then broken shift fork stems, broken slider gear dogs and a missing shift fork pin.

You didn't say if anyone had worked on the clutch or gearbox so I am throwing in nearly EVERYTHING possible that could create the problem. A little more background and most of the above can be ruled out. Get back to us.

SOURCE: BMW R1150GS 8 years old, 5700 miles. Trouble engaging 1st gear

It's a problem thats common in the Adventures and I think it has to do with the driveshaft set up. I generally let clutch out slighty when kicking it down to 1st and that does the trick. I dont think there's anything mechanically wrong, just one of those glitches in the design.

My 07 yamaha R6 starts in neutral but stall when i put it into gear

There is a sidestand/kickstand switch. When this is activated (stand down) and you select gear it cuts the engine out. It is to prevent riding off with stand down. The switch sits on the bottom of the bike in the spray and mud when riding so gets clogged up. Spraying with (for example) WD40 cleans it up. pushing and pulling on the button will free it up as well. Failing that, disconnect or short it as a last resort. Easier done as a 2 man job (or woman lol) where one holds bike up or leans it away from the stand and the other gets down low and plays with the switch.
Good luck.
