The engine light comes on after start up then about 3 sec. goes off and the bike runs good and doesn't come back until start up, any ideas?

you should get a code scan tool clear the fault codes.

Does the engine turn over but not fire up? The lights on the dash won't go off until the engine starts.When trying to start is the any noise at all?

If the small diameter hose, usually clear in color, comes off the very bottom of the carb, it doesn't connect anywhere. This is an overflow hose. In the event the float bowl overfills for any reason, the hose directs the fuel to a place where it will run onto the ground instead of the hot engine. Usually, it goes back and down between the engine and the transmission to the bottom of the bike.

Although I know very little about the newer computer controlled fuel systems, this sounds about right to me. As long as the light goes out and the bike runs normally, ride it. I don't think it's anything to be concerned about. It sounds like the fuel system may be a slight bit rich on startup and the oxygen sensor is detecting this temporary condition.

if you are no longer setting a current code then I would not worry ! Your system will send the fault to historic after 50 run cycles and you will no longer have the engine light coming on the second time

sounds to me like your check valve in fuel line is not working. If you have the original lift pump it located in there.

the light should come on when you first turn the ignition on four four sec.then go out and if it comes on again this means you have a trouble code. to get the code you can hold in the speedometer reset button and turn on ignition swicth and use reset button to move curser
