Question about 2009 Aprilia Mana 850

Why does it shut off when I turn the throttle and the kick stand is up not down?

Engine runs but shuts off when I turn the throttle.and the kick stand is up not down.bike is behaving just like how it would if the kick stand was down.

Check the kickstand switch. they do get sticky

2013 icebear only starts with kick stand up and when kickstand released scooter stops.

This is very typical of motorcycles and scooters. On most scooters, which have automatic transmissions, it will require the kick stand be up to make sure you don't take off with it down which can cause injury. When you put the kick stand down, it shuts down the engine.

Why does engine shut off and will not start. gas pedal goes down and won't come back up. fuel pump runs. engine turns over?

Check throttle body,may be broken cable and clean too.

Is the kickstand still down? Have you checked the safety switch on the side stand?

Only thought Is the Kick stand switch
Is a kickstand on or was there one ever on this bike? If the switch thinks the kickstand is down it will stall out as soon as you kick it into gear.

I would suspect two things ... thing one ... are you sure the '82 has a safety interlock switch? Thing two ... if it does have a switch, check it for proper operation.

I have a 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 Classic, never had a problem with the side arm (kick stand) until the other night, it is now loose and will drop going down the road causing the safety switch to engage...

Sounds like the return sping broke. Suport your bike securly and check stand for spring it should run down side of stand. Good luck and be safe!

Well, by chance have you put the motorcycle in gear while the side stand is down?

Newer motorcycles have a safety switch on the kick stand if it's down it'll kill the engine as soon as it's put in gear, put the stand up and all is well.

When I release the clutch starting out it stalls in 1st gear

check your side stand safety switch. if the kick stand is down the engine will shut off. if this switch is stuck then the bike thinks the kick stand is down. clean out the switch.

Kick stand safety shut down, once bike warms up it shuts off if kick stand is down

The bike is supposed to shut down if the kick stand is down. It is a safety feature designed to prevent starting out with the stand down, which can be very inconvenient on your first left turn. If you are saying the bike runs with the stand down when cold, then the switch must be in need of adjustment. Please rate my answer.
