The valve clearance when cold is
intake 0.009 - 0.016 mm (0.004-0.0006) inch
exhaust 0.17- 0.24 mm (0.007-0.009) inch
This is for a 2009 model don't know if engines are same or if they changed following year.

The valve clearance settings for the 2005 RMZ450 when the engine is cold are > Exhaust .006 to .009 > Intake .005 to .007, per the factory service manual.

According to the KTM service manual the cold valve clearances for this model are as follows:
Valve Clearance Cold intake - 0.07....0.13mm (0.0028...0.0051 in) Valve Clearance Cold exhaust - 0.12--- 0.18mm (0.0047...0.0071 in)

Checking my valve clearances I found my rhs inlet was 0.22mm which is 0.07 above tolerance as stated in manual. Will it tighten as the valve seat wears or should I get shimmed? All others were in tolerence...
It will not get tighter ,try shimming . Valve clearance is allowing for heat exspansion .a extra large clearance is noisy and will not allow the valve to operate properly .too tight a clearance will not shut off the valves and cause exspansion loss in the commpresson stroke .And in some cases the piston may hit the valve.Resulting in a loss of power.A loose or large valve clearance is noisy and will give your enging a sluggish performance.
