Hook up battery backwards now can't start did I blow a fuse

Could not find a main fuse in the diagrams I looked at. I would take a test light and go through the underhood fuse blocks and see if they are blown.

if you own a charger, connect it to your battery and charge to full.. then disconnect the negative with the key on..this kills the entire car computer and all..shut the key off and reconnect the negative cable tight..turn the key to the on position DO NOT TRY TO START.. let all the dash indicators go out first..then try to start..otherwise all the codes held in the computer need erased..may require the help of an auto electric shop..or parts store..

Sounds like you may have blown out the alternator protection fuse by hooking the battery cables up backwards. How does one do that?? Check the large "MAXI" fuses in the Under hood fuse box near battery, this will be a large amperage fuse.

Why was the battery replaced? Theres no reason the the 100 amp fuse to blow unless the alternator is shorted or you hooked up the battery backwards. I think the 100 amp fuse goes to the alternator. If it was hooked up backwards then you may have engine computer damage.

I hooked the battery up backwards by mistake and blew something. Now my dash lights, radio, wipers, etc. wont work. Help!

The most likely problem is a blown fuse. In the under hood fuse block look for a LARGE "maxi" fuse that is blown. If you find a blown one remove it and bring it to the auto parts store to match it up. It will cost about $10 or so.e54c5a9.jpg

My car amp wont power up any more

Either an external or internal fuse is blown on the amp or the fuse by the battery is blown. If that's not the case your amp is done

1988 jeep 4.0 battery installed backwards now cranks but wont start

have you checked all ofyour fuses? usually when you hook up a battery backwads you end up blowing a fuse and or fry your alternator on older modeled vehicles as there is no protection for it.
