First, make sure the fan is coming on as this will cause over heating, you may have to disconnect it and run an external power source to see if it is working. Check for blockages in the radiator as mud, grass and other stuff can cause blockages.

2008 Sportsman. Why is it running rough?

The 20 Amp fuse (diagram shows only one 20A) feeds ignition coil and fuel pump circuits. With a current probe measure the two circuits separately to identify which is most probable cause.

Check battery voltage with engine running. It should be well over 13 VDC.

If it will run for a few minutes, you might get by with a touch test of the ignition coil and fuel pump. If one is markedly hot, the heat likely identifies the culprit. But a current probe is the tool necessary if you want to avoid part$ swapping.

Recommend fuel pressure check also. Eccessively high pressure could be problematic and low pressure would further implicate fuel pump.

500 sportman Polaris runs good when cold when hot it cutout

Sounds like it is running lean. Adjust the air fuel mixture. If that does not help, may need to do some carb work.

I have a 2004 polaris sportsman 500 when it gets hot it cuts off and back fires

Does the cooling fan ever run when the engine is hot? If not, you may have a problem with the fan thermostat.

For the record, spray carburetor cleaner does no good if it's sprayed on the outside of the carburetor with the engine running. That's not what it's for.

Honda atv troubleshooting. My honda atv. Is air cooled getting hot really fast. An. Boiling the oil out.. Why ? Thx .

Check your carberutor - make sure you have the proper air fuel mixture - running too lean (without enough actual gasoline) will cause the bike to run hot - but even more common than that is an ignition issue - either a bad plug, rectifier, coil etc. something not giving the proper spark or something with your cdi - best to check the plug, then power coming from coil, check rectifier, your timing could be off as well - but i've seen the lean issue and iginition electrical issue be the main causes of an engine running super hot like that.
