SOURCE: honda shadow vt600 dumping fuel into the carbs

Hello ddsaul2...If it's only been a day since the shop adjusted the carbs. you need to return it to them and make them do it right.
Sounds like a float valve is stuck and not closeing. They may have cracked a seat... There could be a pin hole in one of the floats causeing it to fill up with gas and sink. You can check and make sure all the vacuum lines are connected and possibly GENTLY tap on the carb fuel bowls to see if the float might be stuck alll the way down. Personally...if i paid for a carb tune i'd make them fix it. Surely they gurantee their work.
Good luck...i hope this helps

SOURCE: Fuel leaking from carb vent tube on newly cleaned carburetor

that would be either the float set to high or the needle and seat is missing an o-ring while you had it apart. Should look at getting a carb kit there only approx. 23 bucks and it would save you a lot of grief in the long run.

SOURCE: need setting for carb. adjuster on bottom of carb

Turn the adjusting screw all the way in until it LIGHTLY seats. Now back it out one and one half turns. Do the same adjustment for the throttle screw on the right side of the carb. You are now back to the stock factory settings.

Could you take a moment and rate my answer? Thanks!

SOURCE: Fuel flowing freely from overflow - think float is

Sometimes if you lightly tap the carb bowl with the plastic end of a screwdriver and un stick a float. You may have a tiny piece of trash trapped between the float needle valve and it's seat, or you it may be worn out.

When I turn the gas on it leaks out of a hose at the bottom of the motor I think it's a return line , I can start the bike and it doesn't leak as bad but it still leaks help please

Sounds like the float in the carburetor is stuck . Try taping on the carburetor with a handle of a screwdriver or something . Sometimes it in sticks the float . If it continues I suggest removing the carb taking off the float bowl and cleaning out the carb . Maybe you tube it it can be very easy but also delicate and fragile don't force pry or bend any parts.
The reason it he fuel stops coming out of the over full tube while it is running is bc it is using the fuel fast enough to stop the float bowl from over filling. If this bike sat for a while with fuel in it the fuel turns to a varnish and clogs up fuel passages causing sluggish purformace bogging when twisting the throttle and floats to stick and carbs to over flow . You might just have to go through the carb.

What can cause gas leaking into the air box on a Kawasaki ZR-7?

A float valve in the carbs is sticking or the float height settings are incorrect or a float has a hole in it.

Might also be worth checking your engine's valve clearances while you are at it as there could be a slight pressure leak causing blowback.

Do not use Pri on your fuel tap until this is sorted as it could cause hydraulic lock in your engine, which will wreck it. Fuel will flow through your carbs into the engine when it is parked.
This will also ruin your engine oil as the fuel will mix with it.

Your carb is probably gummed up and your float or needle jet is sticking. Remove the carb and clean it.

1979 FoMoCo 4 Barrel carb. Getting good fuel flow and pressure to the carb. Engine will start and run for a few seconds then run out of fuel. New fuel pump has been installed. Can blow through gas...

is the needle opeoning on the float in the carb? The fuel bowl should be about half full all the time. As fuel pressure flows into the needle & seat, it fills the fuel bowl until the float pushes the needle into the eat. Sometimes the rubber tipped needle can stick in the seat.

When I start my bike, after 30 seconds fuel backs up in the fuel vent tubes and dumps out on the floor. It backs ups thru the air intake, fills the canister on the end of the vent tube, and over flows...

Float is sticking in one or more carbs. To narrow which one it is, drain each carb seperately, measuring the feul in each carb. The one with the most is the one the float is sticking on. Be sure that the top vent lines are not blocked or colapsed.

I have a 2003 harley sportster When I Start it the over flow vent hose flows gas. What do you think the problem is? Thank you Tom

It sounds like your float level is just a bit high in the carburetor. Your bike is equipped with a vacuum operated petcock. When the engine is not running, there is no vacuum on the intake and therefore, not vacuum on the petcock. When there is no vacuum on the petcock, the fuel is turned off.

When you start the engine, vacuum is created and applied to the petcock turning on the fuel. If the float level is set too high or you have a piece of trash in the needle and seat in the carb, the float bowl will overfill and gasoline will run out of the overflow hose.

You need to take the carb off the engine, remove the float bowl, take the float and the needle out and clean out the needle and seat. Then check the float height. Now, this is an area where you need a manual. The float sets with the carb on a 15° to 20°angle. With it on this angle, you set the height to 0.413-0.453" from the carburetor flange surface to the top of the float. I usually try to set the float at the lowest fuel level setting with would be the 0.453" setting.

Good Luck

Gas leake from Air vent hose ( rear carburator) Suzuki Marauder VZ800 2002

If you mean that fuel runs out of one of the vent lines, note that one of those lines is for overflow from the carb bowl. If this is what is happening, you might have corrosion or dirt making your float needle stick, and overflow fuel to that carb. It needs to be cleaned out by removing the bowl, float and float needle.

Air box and crank case fuel flooding problem happened before, thinking it was stuck or worn float needles; I installed 2 Carb float needles left side facing rear of carbs , all larger main jets, all...

Well there only one way the fuel can get into the crankcase and that's from the fuel tank. The petcock must be draining and the float needles are not stopping the fuel flow. Do you have a prime position on the petcock? If so do not run the bike in the position. Try topping the tank off with gas and letting it sit for a while and see is the gas has gone down and then check the crankcase and see if there's fuel in it again. i still say its got to be your petcock.

No fuel

something to keep in mind. if the fuel filter appears to be empty, this may not always mean that the fuel system is running dry. if you bike runs fine i wouldnt worry about it. usually an air pocket makes its way into the filter and still allows fuel to flow. but if you are running into a fuel starveing problem. cutting out. ect. then after elimintateing the other possibilities you have listed you will want to check the carb venting tubes. if the float chambers are not getting proper venting from a pinched line or something then it will not allow fuel in as adequate as it should, and will cause running problems. or if this is something that occured after a storage period a sticking float valve can alter fuel flow as well. and last, if this tank has venting lines then you willl want to check them as well. venting problems can be tricky to find but they are a common cause of fuel starve problems.
