Im replacing the plug wires on my 1994 grand marquis. Is there a particular wire I should use, do to the high temp from the engine. Is there any thing special about this job that I should know?

Get a good set made by Ford and you should be okay. There are some plastic guides used to keep the wires in position. One or two are attached to long bolts on the Valve cover gasket.

If you get a good set, each wire will have a number on it for the cylinder, then you just use that number on the matching wire. Some aftermarket kits may not be numbered. About the only upgrade in wiring is using a 8MM wire as opposed to the 7MM wire. But you get into problems with the wires no longer fitting into the holders and some kits even make you cut and fit the ends and boots onto them.

Really, all the engines throw heat. Some manufacturers did create problems for themselves, but the 4.6L in your car does not have any problems like that. Overall, it is an excellent engine and Ford used this design for many years.

I have a Kenmore stove, model #911.93478891. The burner plug has gone bad and I need to know where to get one. Thanks, Karen

You can order parts at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The replacement part number for the Terminal Block (includes the wires and receptacle) is WB17X210.

All these sites are reputable and have great service with competitive prices so shop and compare. The first three sites I have listed also have exploded view illustrated parts listings to help you locate and properly identify any parts you may need.

NOTE: Appliancepartspros.com carries a universal replacement kit that is currently on sale for on $7.95 each. This includes the receptacle and wires as well.

NOTE: If your model number is not listed at the sites I have listed, use the part numbers from the Sears website and use that as your search criteria. In some cases, the model number will not be listed, but the part numbers will.

To replace, follow these steps:

1. Make sure you have the stove UNPLUGGED or breaker turned off. Dangerous voltage is still present even with the range turned off.

2. If you buy the replacement kit with the full length wires, you will need to trace the wires from the OLD receptacle all the way back the infinite control switch at the control panel. Unplug each one and connect the new plug wires. Neatly tuck any excess wire in the control panel and use zip ties to secure them.

3. If you purchase the universal kit that has the shorter wires, you will need to cut and splice the wires together. Make sure you use the ceramic lugs that come with the kit. DO NOT use any other type of wire lug. These are heat resistant. Once you have the lugs tightened place the heat shrink (black plastic sleeves) over the wire crimp and lugs. When the stove gets hot, this heat shrink will shrink to fit over the junction forming a protective barrier to keep grease and oil out. NOTE: You speed up this process by carefully using a lighter to heat up the heat shrink (do not use a direct flame as it will melt).

If in doubt, follow the instructions that come with the kit you purchase.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Does anybody know how to wire a towbar wiring unit to a ford escort 1999?

Wiring the vehicle for towing is fairly easy. There are a number of good wiring kits available and these should be used, rather than trying to design your own.

All trailers will need brake lights and turn signals as well as tail lights and side marker lights. Most areas require extra marker lights for overwide trailers. Also, most areas have recently required back-up lights for trailers, and most trailer manufacturers have been building trailers with back-up lights for several years.

Additionally, some Class I, most Class II and just about all Class III and IV trailers will have electric brakes. Add to this number an accessories wire, to operate trailer internal equipment or to charge the trailer's battery, and you can have as many as seven wires in the harness.

Determine the equipment on your trailer and buy the wiring kit necessary. The kit will contain all the wires needed, plus a plug adapter set which includes the female plug, mounted on the bumper or hitch, and the male plug, wired into, or plugged into the trailer harness.

When installing the kit, follow the manufacturer's instructions. The color coding of the wires is usually standard throughout the industry. One point to note: some domestic vehicles, and most imported vehicles, have separate turn signals. On most domestic vehicles, the brake lights and rear turn signals operate with the same bulb. For those vehicles without separate turn signals, you can purchase an isolation unit so that the brake lights won't blink whenever the turn signals are operated.
One, final point, the best kits are those with a spring loaded cover on the vehicle mounted socket. This cover prevents dirt and moisture from corroding the terminals. Never let the vehicle socket hang loosely; always mount it securely to the bumper or hitch.

You can check HERE details about this part for Escort and any "graphics".

Hope help.

Does the whirlpool GU1500XTLS1 have a fuse - I do not have any power to the console?

Yes, there is a thermal fuse located behind the operator console. The part number for the replacement kit is 8193762. You can view an illustration at appliancepartspros.com. It sells for about $13 and the instuctions with a wiring harness are included with the kit.

NOTE: You MUST follow the instructions and use the wiring harness. There were some noted problems with certain model dishwashers2.gif where the wire gauge on the thermal fuse was too small and would heat up causing the thermal fuse to blow prematurely. The replacement kit includes a wire harness with a larger gauge wire that handles current better, preventing the fuse from blowing prematurely. To ease your mind, there were no reports of fire hazard.

If you need to view a diagram of your dishwasher, enter your model number at the website mentioned for some excellent exploded view illustrations. The thermal fuse is listed as item 6 under the "Control Panel Parts" heading.

If you have any questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.
