The check engine light on my 2009 Yamaha Vstar 1100 only comes on when it reaches about 55 mph. What could be causing it do that?

Take the bike to the shop to diagnose, more than likely it is a Throttle Position Sensor. It could also be a blocked fuel filter starving the engine. Only the mechanic can obtain the codes and point you in the irght direction.

Neutral light not working, changed bulb, but still

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, have you checked the neutral position switch or its wiring? In most versions, the wire would be skyblue in color. Additionally, checked the diode. Alternately, if the turn signal lights indicator or the engine indicator lights are likewise not working, then check the signal fuse.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

I have a 2002 Yamaha Vstar Classic with a good

Twisted bolts on the starter are never a good thing. There is also a one-way starter clutch on the crank behind the flywheel that can be damaged. If it engages intermittently, it's on its way out. Both the starter and starter clutch are prone to failure on VStars... and neither are cheap to fix. Hopefully your bike is still under warranty.
