Turn off fuel, drain oil clean carbs fill oil to normal level.test compression,if u can.if you cant test compression check the sparkplugs to see if any are fouled with copious amounts of oil. the float sticking would cause the crank case to fill with gas,the pistons moving in and out would displace the excess liquid and gas/oil would spew out somwhere.also if a piston was loosing it compression it could blow oil out of the crank case. You might find that the old 4 cylnder just need carbs cleaned and fresh oil to get it running again.turn your fuel back on after you have cleaned the carbs.
????
what engine are you talking about ?
sounds like the floats are stuck in the carb and have flooded the engine, strip and clean the carb (s) out, change the oil and then try to restart bike.

Recheck your oil level. The smoking routine you mentioned sounds like the crank case is being over-pressurized from too much oil. That results in the crank case breather dumping oil into the intake of the carb. Then you see all the white smoke and hear the engine making odd sounds because of the excess crank case presure. Just re-check the oil level. There are 2 lines on the dip stick. The oil level should NOT be above the upper line with the dip stick fitted in the run position.
If you still have the problem please respond with an engine model number. If it is a Briggs and Stratton engine the number will be on the air shroud near the spark plug wire. Honda and tecumseh the number will be not far from the lower end of oil tube or next to the dip stick on engines without an extended tube stamped on side of the engine base.
Let me know if you still need help after correcting the oil serviciing level. There is more that can be checked..... just need that engine number.
Without knowing what make or model you have, check the following:
1. Some, not all, compressor dip sticks have venting holes for the crankcase. If the vent holes are plugged or the check ball is stuck the dip stick will get forced out when the piston comes down.
2. Make sure the oil level is where it's supposed to be. Too much oil in the crankcase will cause the motor to work harder and the excess oil being splashed around the crank case can overwhelm the vents in the case or dip stick and again blow the dip stick out.
3. Worst case, you have worn or broken rings on the piston(s), a hole in a piston or a badly scored cylinder(s) and air is leaking past the piston and creating pressure in the crank case and blowing the dip stick out.
You cannot empty oil completely out of a power washer without a suction hose
Do not turn the power washer on its side or upside down or oil will run into carburetor
The pump oil comes about half way up dip stick >>> use SAE20 or SAE30 non detergent motor oil The engine oil comes about half way up dip stick >>> use 10W30 for engine
Hello, oil to use in the engine depends on engine if it is a Kohler you will want to use 10w30 approx 2qts. The Briggs & Stratton engines use HD30 or SAE30 approx 1.5qts. Use the dip stick to ensure you have the right amount and don't over fill.
To change the oil:
run engine about 10 minutes to warm up oil so it flows better
at the bottom of the dip stick there is either a valve or plug
open the valve or plug and let the oil drain (I use an old gallon oil container with a funnel) leave the dip stick out
while the oil drains; change the spin on oil filter
once all the old oil has drained replace the plug or close the valve
wipe down the funnel and use it to refill the new oil
use the dip stick to ensure proper fill level
I also recommend that you replace the air filter at the same time, if the engine can't get air is can't run efficiently.
This engine requires synthetic oil, 5 quarts, and oil filter. Remove dip stick, remove oil drain plug at bottom of engine oil pan, remove filter housing, remove oilf filter and o-ring. Replace o-ring and filter, rub o-ring with some new oil, replace filter housing, replace oil drain plug, pour new oil in at top of engine oil cap, replace dip stick, start engine, run for 45 seconds, turn off, check dip stick to make sure oil is at correct level. You are done, recycle old oil.
Make sure you are not checking the oil with the car running first of all, second don't check the oil immediately after turning off the car let the engine stand for about ten minute allowing the oil to drain off the dip stick,
i heard of a cam position sensor going bad causing really bad gas mileage--5 mpg,or it could be the fuel regulator bad.i wouldnt run it like it is,change parts ,the the oil before trying to start it to avoid a fire,be really careful!!
