Testing for hard start should be done by a qualified deiagnostic technician . Could be caused by a number of thing's , sensors , fuel system componets etc.....

hard starts are not mandatory but they do help to save the compressor if it is having a hard time starting
its just a boost to help it start
and it shouldn't void your warranty they are to help it start nothing else

Sounds like bad vacuumed leak because of brake being hard.check that the hose from power brake diapham on fire wall to intake manifold in on not got a hole in it and if it seems ok pull hose off brake unit and plug and start.good luck.if that solves it replace brake booster.

The compressor is having trouble starting. You can wire in a hard start kit to help the compressor start. Its easy the hard start has two wires one goes to Common on the capcitor and the othe goes to the HERM terminal on the capacitor.
