SOURCE: Signs of a leaking clutch slave?

A leaky slave would be more likely to give a soft lever. What you're describing sound more like a problem with the return bleed in the master. Have you made any adjustments recently?

SOURCE: when to change a clutch

Clutch life all comes down to how you ride it, and more so how much you slip it. I've seen how alot of people ride and honestly wouldn't be suprised if they needed new clutches before they hit 10k miles... makes me cringe hearing them take off from a stop. I think to myself.... "what did that clutch ever do to you?? " LOL But yea if you're not running evergy conserving oil, and there's plenty of freeplay in the lever, then it sounds like it's clutch time. There's no set mileage interval for clutches, just depends on how each individual one is treated. On my bike I've got 113k on the original factory clutch and it's still fine... no slippage at all. My buddies Suzuki Bandit was on it's 3rd clutch by 40k or so (but that bike had other problems too). My Accord I got 321k out of the original factory clutch, and it never started slipping just broke a damper spring on the clutch disc and jammed the clutch. I've known of a woman with a brand new Hyundai that burnt the clutch out in 1000 miles (yea she didn't know how to drive manual... at all). It's all relative Sounds like you need a clutch th

there is normally marks on the flywheel. sometimes 3 sometimes less. find the mark that makes the left piston sit at top dead centre on the compression strocke and it should be lined up correct. make sure that u are happy before u try starting otherwise it could end up very expensive.

Clutch problem??

Sounds like the clutch release is not seating smoothly and fully. Operate the release very slowly (preferably out of gear while static or can you put it in 6th while its off? and see if there's any stiction in the clutch release mechanism.Maybe the clearance changes in 6th gear but i cant see why it should.

have you replaced the clutch rod and seal if it was leaking before it may be low on fluid ,did a small ball bearing come out of the hole when you removed the shaft and if it did ,did you replace it ,to bend a clutch rod there is useally a problem before that ,this maybe a good time to take it to your bike dealer for a inspection as there could be a underlying problem that will only get worse .i hope this helps

When clutch is engaged and you are changing gears there is a grinding noise kind of like a broken barring noise but that's not the problem, and it sticks when you change gears to 1st. We just did a...

sounds like the syncronizers are broken in the gearbox or it just may be low on gear oil all together.. check gear level by removing the plug in the side of the box under the vehicle and stick the smallest finger in the hole and bend down..see if fluid oil shows on fingertip..if not fill until it runs out this plug hole..there is also a drain at the base near the back tailshaft.. this is not a level check location.. it is a drain only.. if in doubt, get a towyard replacement trans gearbox and intall it in and it should work.. good luck

Car has no power.

Remove transmission and check the clutch slave cylinder for leakage. Check fluid level and bleed if necessary. Remove clutch, pocket bearing, throwout bearing and pressure plate. Check for leakage from rear engine seal and front transmission seal. Remove and replace seal(s) if traces of oil are present. Check clutch for oil film and excessive wear, damaged or worn pressure plate (if close to tollerence, replace for convenience). Replace clutch components as necessary and reassemble using your manual for guidance. This should take care of the problem. I see you have changed your fuel filter and given a basic tune up so you should be good to go at that point (check compression and distributor timing) If timing belt has not been replaced around 60,000 then replace or you may end up on the side of the road. if any further questions let me know.

Hard to get in gear any gear happened sort of sudden 5 speed

Check for low fluid in the clutch master cylinder. The fluid is your adjustment. If it is low it won't go in gear. Also if it is low the system is leaking somewhere. If fluid is full the pressure plate and clutch disc are probably worn out.

The pedal of my manual transmission just stop working in a stop light... ( the pedal us almost lose... I have to pumped to many time to get the geAR)

Of course check fluid first & if low you'll need to determine the cause.

Other than that, it would indicate that either you have a leak between the Clutch master cylinder & the Clutch slave cylinder on the transmission, or, one of those 2 parts is defective.

Check under the clutch pedal on the floorboard to see if you can identify any clutch fluid (same as brake fluid for the most part) around the area below where the clutch rod comes through the firewall. If you do, that means the clutch master cyliinder is leaking.

Next is to go to the transmission & see if you can identify the leak there.

Amazingly, cold weather and bad Clutch Slave Cylinders go hand in hand. Once you find the problem just replace the part, tighten the line, bleed the system & you should be good for a long time.

good luck.

Grinding gears

Have the clutch checked first by a mechanic you trust-perhaps a small shop with a good reputation. The clutch could just be worn out. If the clutch checks out okay, then he will want to check the tranny itself next.

Good luck to you and Thank you for using Fix ya!
