SOURCE: Suzuki intruder 1500 charging system

You need to buy a volt meter and set it on 10, or 20 v-. Start the bike and see what it says. A good charging system will show 13-14+ volts. If the meter says 11-12 volts or does not change, you have a bad stator, or rect/reg. Take to a shop to have it further tested. Chaz Moto DC

SOURCE: how to change the oil and filter on suzuki classic

Get a filter wrench at walmart (plastic) or Auto zone type place, unscrew drain plug and after all is drained then take off filter. It works bette if you warm up the bike first so the oil is warm and flows better. The oil fill and dip stick is behind the rear chrome cover on the right side. Two allen screws to remove the cover. Check for no leaks by running her after you fill up with oil.

Sounds like the cut out switch on the kick stand. The bike shouldn't start if you have the kick stand down. Check the kick stand is fully retracted and that the switch is disengaging OK. Maybe the stand is slightly loose & its making contact even when retracted. Otherwise check the kill switch. Both parts are available cheaply on ebay & easy to replace.

Hi,sometimes its hard to get my suzuki vl 125 into first gear, you have to jolt the bike with a rev to engage first.any suggestions? many thanks Charlie .

If the gearbox oil is REALLY dirty it can affect shifting. The only other thing will be a shift fork going bad. Replacing a shift fork is not generally a do-it-yourself project. The dealer will charge $750 or more. Sure do hope you have dirty oil...

you have a short somewhere in the ignition system. check for wires touching metal, or chafed and touching each other. Get a manual, and follow the wiring diagram.
