Starts fine one day, battery seems dead the next

I just bought a 1999 suzuki gz 250 marauder and it ran and started perfect the other day. Its sat for a day and when I went to start it tonight it seemed like the battery was drained. What should I do to fix this problem. It won't start now and the more I try to start it the less power I get. Is it possible the battery drained overnight?

The guy i bought it from said the battery is new and when we pushed the bike it started up but it seems like something is draining the battery when it sits. What could this be?

Have it tested. Even new batteries can have problems. You can push start ANYTHING with a DEAD/BAD battery. Have it tested.

The first thing to do is take the battery out and have it charged and tested. I am betting that it is bad. If the battery turns out to be good you have an open circut draining the battery, but like I said I'm betting on the battery being bad.

Bike starts well, 2006 but only has 1000 miles on it. sat in storage during move (7 months). drained gas and disconnected battery. idles fine but when you give the the gas to go or give it gas period it...

If the bike ran fine prior to putting it in storage and all you did was drain the fuel and disconnect the battery, its likely moisture ( condensation) developed in the carbs while it sat. this type of thing happens when fuel is drained. Your best bet is to remove the carbs and clean the jets. Its my opinion and experience to put fresh fuel in a bike along with (stable) fuel treatment prior to storing them. With the stable added to the fuel, the fuel will hold good for about 1 year.. Replacing the battery and starting them and letting them warm up to operating temp monthly while in storage is always a good idea..
I hope this helps..

How do i start my 2000 suzuki gz 250 after it has been in the cold rain for a week?

If it has only sat for a week, then your not in any real trouble. As long as your seals are good and no water has leaked into the gas tank, then it should be able to start right up.
