Question about 1999 kawasaki ZX-6R Ninja
I've had my 1999 kawasaki zx6r sitting in a garage for around 6 months+. i am now trying to get the bike on the road. It wouldn't start off the button but it started by being bumped, when i turned the throttle a fraction it would splutter and cut out. i then left this idol for a while and it got slightly better. since then i have put in a new battery, spark plugs, fuel and the pilot jets were so blocked i drilled them out and the bike started off the button with a backfire in the 8000 revs. if left running it would cut out and not start again unless i emptied the carbs of the fuel so i replaced them. i haven't touched anything else but now the bike won't start unless i give it a long bump and backfires with big bangs and flames from the exhaust. what could this be?
When you drilled out the pilot jet you destroyed it. Even if you have jewelers bits they are to big. One drill bit size is 6 to 10 jet sizes. Replace the pilot jets, you are running WAYYYYY to rich at idle.
