Hi there you need to take the clutch cover off after draining the oil ,remove the bolts going into the clutch basket take the springs out as well if you have the cash put in new springs when installing the clutch ,after you take the outer off then take out the plates and have acheck on size and wear ,then there should be a large nut and lock washer tap down the tab that stops the nut spinning loose then put your foot on the back brake and undo the nut this will be very tight if you have a air rattle gun this makes life a lot easier .then replacing the clutch basket it would be good sense to put a new bearing in the clutch houseing then put it back together in the oposite direction cheers hopes this helps cheers

The pressure plate, clutch pushrod or cable slack not adjusted properly.-------The push rod is not tight enough, there is a screw and lock nut that gets out of adjustment and the lock nut becomes loose. Re-tight the screw, if push rod is checked loose.--------The throwout bearing can fail if the clutch adjustment is not correct.
This is typically caused by insufficient free play at the clutch lever. Try adjusting the clutch cable.

All Harley clutch cables have adjustments. There should be only about 1/8 inch play in the clutch lever. Follow the cable from the clutch lever down to the Trans and about half way you will see a rubber boot. Under it you will find the adjuster.-----------------

Also start by checking the shifter pawl adjustment/.Double check the spring on the pawl assembly as it may be broken or just worn out. Then look at your shift linkage from the lever all the way back. Be sure to lube it all and make sure it is not binding anywhere especially on the shaft where the lever attaches. And also make sure the shift levers are not loose on their shafts, especially the lever at the transmission. Then remove the top cover and check the pawl and spring.

---------------

The outer primary does nothing but support the starter shaft when engaged, it has nothing to do with holding the clutch basket in place. Can you pull/push the basket in and out by hand?-----------

Clutch basket is left thread.
When you have the cover off take the plugs out and with the bike on lift put in lash high gear and turn the rear wheel, does everything turn, rear belt, primary chain, motor. That will tell you really quick where the problem is located.--- The
clutch basket should turn and primary chain should spin. But if rear tire not turning and primary chain not spinning. Then, Sounds like it's in the clutch basket. If the trans is in gear and the rear won't roll but the clutch basket turns and the primary chain isn't moving.--------- also get the clutch hub checked. If its cracked or worn out.-----This will help.thanks.Helpmech.

When the fourwheeler is moving in any gear, I hear a whinig noise and barley moves?

Have you put oil back in it ? There is usually a primary clutch adjuster screw on either the end of the clutch or on the worm gear that operates it.make sure it is adjusted right.screw it in until you feel resistance then undo it half a turn and lock it in place with the locking nut.

Clutch wont disengage 250 kx 250

Here's how I'd try to fix the clutch:
1.) Try to adjust the cable at the handlebar; usually there's a little bid of clutch lever travel (like 1/4"-1/2") before the clutch disengages. For right now, adjust the clutch so that there isn't any play and the adjustment all the way out. If the clutch disengages the transmission, then you know you have to fiddle with the cable to get it adjusted properly.
2.) The clutch plates could be sticking: here you'd have to take the clutch cover off and get to the clutch. Remove the clutch (usually an impact is ideal for removing the clutch holding nut. Take the clutch apart (steels and clutches), make sure they aren't sticking together. Then dip the clutches in oil, then reassemble.
3.) Sometimes the clutch basket (holds all of the clutches and steels in a "basket") gets grooves in it. These grooves prevent the clutch from disengaging. Sometimes you can file the clutch basket fingers down to remove the grooves. Alternatively, if the clutch basket fingers are really worn, you may have to replace the clutch basket.
Typically, when your in the clutch side of the engine case, I'd examine 2 and 3 (above) at the same time.

Have a 2006 ktm 250 sxf seized rod to the crank got it changed reinstalled put motor back together now can not even kick it like somthing is stuck. Toke the clutch basket out, timing gear and water pump...

Your clutch basket is the link between the engine and transmission. Your kick starter rotates the clutch basket gear, which turns another gear at the engine crank. Remove either the basket or gear at the crank and see if the engine, and the transmission both turn. Sounds like the engine is stuck for some reason. At least you can cut the issue in half.

How do i know i need a new clutch and clutch basket in my 2002 cr 125

Clutch friction plates are often the worn out component of that assembly. IF the plates don't spline in correctly with the basket due to some physical damage, then you should replace the basket. The clutch is comprised of an inner and outer hub that become interlocked through metal disks and friction disks pressed together under spring pressure.

Out of balance

Did your clutch pulley use the upper One-Way Bearing ring?

What are the first two digits of your Serial Number of the machine?

What is the history of the Clutch install? Did the unbalance issue continue right away with the new Clutch Install?

How much rust did you find on the Clutch Pulley and the Upper One-Way Roller clutches bearing ring if used? Any Pic’s of the old Clutch Pulley?

If you shut off the water source valves to the machine and release the top the washer so you can lift the washer top and observe the wash basket rotating CCW at 50 RPM during the water fill part of the wash cycle.

Start a quick wash cycle and lift the washer top to observe the wash basket rotation CCW. The wash Basket will rotate CCW at 50 RPM. You can go into Service Mode and observe on the LED console FAV6800A machine. Not sure about the FAV9800A LCD flavor of the machine.

Do the tumblers rotate slightly during the water fill part of the cycle?

The machine may error out with NF for No Fill don’t worry about that I just want to determine if the tumblers are rotating during the CCW/Spin direction of the wash basket. You may have to put some dry laundry in the wash basket to help with the observation.

Let me know what you see……..Rich

Replaced the clutch in my xlh1200 1995 with a kevlar clutch kit. when I put it back together I couldnt squeeze the clutch. I took off the derby cover and figured out that the adjustment screw was hitt

I would go back to scratch. Disassemble the clutch basket and reassemble it making sure you have it set in proper order. Then reassemble every thing. Also double check the clutches you bought are the proper ones for your bike.
