Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Oil tank/system overfilled.
2. Faulty breather valve.
3. Engine breather hose bent, pinched, kinked etc.
4. Air filter has too much "pre-oil".
5. Crankshaft seal failure allowing transmission fluid to migrate.
6. Blow by drain tube cracked/split or filled to capacity.

SOURCE: oil leaks from breather box

Hi!
From your brief description It sounds like you are experiencing Crank Case pressure build up.
I presume your ZZR is of High mileage or possibly previous owners havn't serviced it regularly.
The problem being the compression Piston Rings wear and allow Blow Back gasses into the crank case there by building up pressure, this in turn sends an oil film up the breather tube to your air box resulting in your problem.
You could try an oil & filter change (Synthetic) Top jolly with maybe an additive plus similar for the fuel i.e. Red-Ex or similar, it may help but I doubt a cure.
If you want you could extend the breather pipe away from the box into a drip can or similar, be sure to filter it as you don't want to get contamination down in the cases.
Hope this sorts it for you?

SOURCE: oil leaking through the air breather. oil is

Just a possibility, i found this worked on some cars with similar problem (at least reduced the amount of oil going up the pipe)

Add a (bit at a time) bottle of STP oil treatment, the thick gooey stuff, it should increase the surface tension of the oil, keeping it in one piece, not splitting up and splattering around --> thus being less readily exhaled up the blow-off pipe.
just a thought. this will also increase the compression a little since it thickens the oil, will take up a little wear too coz it likes to cling on to bearings.

I have a 2000 wide glide Harley that keeps spitting oil out the vents

As I live and breathe how ya doing Leighanne if oil leaking from your air cleaner it is caused by oil carryover from the engine. For whatever reason, the breather system is not separating enough oil mist and air from the piston downstroke. There are cheap and quick easy fixes and there are more expensive ones. First, make sure your breather hoses are not dry and cracked if they are ok you can start by trying the following:
1. Run your oil level half way between the add and full mark when oil is at operating temp.
2. Run oil breather lines from the head into a TEE fitting below carb/induction module then a single line into a mini filter under the frame.
3. Purchase Arlen Ness Super Sucker.
4. Replace umbrella valves and realign oil pump.
5. Upgrade oil pump and cam plate.

Tipping the machine on its side can allow engine oil to enter the air filter box via the engine breather, this will then soak the paper element air filter, you will need to remove and replace the filter.

My mower is spitting oil all over the driveway and smoking. The pull cord will not pull

It is important not to over fill the sump with oil, only fill to the max mark on the dip stick, if you have tipped the mower up it may have pushed oil up the engine breather and into the air filter box, if the paper filter is now soaked in oil you will need to replace the filter.

Briggs & Stratton Vertical OHV Engine 18 hp blowing white smoke engine run great but a lot of smoke and also have oil being spit out of the black hose that come from engine to the carb.

Check your oil.

If it is overfilled, milky, or smells like gas. Your going to need to change that ASAP. It sounds like the float has stuck in the past or is still sticking, and it has flooded the crankcase with gas, which has mixed with the oil. And because it is overfilled it comes through the breather hose into the carb. This also explains the smoke most probably because the oil is spewing in the carb through the breather and being burned.

The larger vacuume hose atatchd to the air filter spits oil into the housing

Check to see if you have overfilled the oil supply. My 1980 has the same oil vent pipe terminating in the air box, and if the oil reservoir is over filled it will spit oil into the air box. That line is a breather pipe and it conforms to EPA rules, namely no venting of hydrocarbons to the atmosphere.

You may have a broken or ruptured hose that is causing the oil to leak. You will need the hose fixed and some more oil put in.

Ford C4 Auto gearbox spits oil

It sounds like it could be overfilled, but that will be easy enough to check on the dipstick. Should be checked with the engine idling in neutral. Otherwise, the trans could be overheating, causing the oil to expand to the point that it spits out the breather. Pull the dipstick and check the fluid condition, if it's dark and smells burnt, the trans may be slipping or overheating for some other reason, and it's probably time to get a trans shop involved. You should probably run an auxiliary cooler at the radiator area in the type of application you describe, especially if you're gonna be using the gas pedal fairly heavily! Sounds like a sweet car, lots of fun to be had in something like that.
