I have a 99 roadstar when i turn the key on nothing happens dash lights dont come on charged battery .i was cranking it everthing went off .could it be a fuse

check --clean and test battery and connections --------

Resetting the Passlock system should fix it. If it doesn't you need an auto electrician or an auto locksmith.

you need an ignition switch. One way to figure it out is to turn the key to engage the starter, quickly........over and over, the "catch and start" will happen with no change and suddenly, its engaged. Or, keep the key in the START position, don't let up on it and hit the steering column with your fist, or the steering wheel. It may just be shorting out.

if key is dead, and dash dead, and or head lights dead
check all fuses first in the cab and in the engine bay.
always check fuses first. the battery voltage.
bam 10v bad battery ,dead, or discharged, (i charge it and ./...???)_
battery is good and jumper starts fail.

you turn the key to on, the check engine light glows, (and othere)
that is something
then you move key to crank position (start) i will wiggle the shiftlever.
boom is cranks
no it dont so i try starting in neutral. bam , it cranks. over. bad PRNDL switch.
no it dont, so i hit the starter with a hammer, not crazy just tap tap.
no it dont start.
I hot wire the starter solenoid. it cranks (wont start , key in pockets)
hot wire fails,battery good, starter is toast.
hot wire test passes ,cranks nice.
i then grab my trusty DMM and flip dial to Volts.
i then find why my KEY line is dead.
if you get this far, ask how to fix a dead Key line.,

had the same problem on a 99 buick regal no power going to starter silinoid and dash lights went out when key is put in start position.turns out it was the ignition switch.95.00 at auto zone

Try changing your starter motor relay under the hood or its possible the starter has simply went out. if high mileage is present.

it could be a weak battery

it could be a worn starter thats drawing too much current

have the alternator tested as well, it may not be charging the battery properly, therefore you wont have enough amperage to crank the engine over

A battery can have juice to power the car, but not enough to get it running.

1989 f250 4x4 lighting problems. i replaced the floor mounted dimmer switch ,the lights worked fine for an hour untill i turned them off.Now the lights will not turn back on but i have park lights.

There could be several reasons for your problem:

1. Check your connections for tightness and corrosion. A corroded battery cable/post will diminish the current going to the dead battery.
   
2. Check jumper connections
3. Dead battery; the worse off the battery is, the more time it will take to charge the battery sufficiently enough to start the car; a completely dead battery with bad cells will never recharge sufficiently enough to hold a charge and start the car on a regular basis

sound like alternator quit charging the battery.check battery voltage.it should be 12.5 volts.if not charge the battery.remove and have alternator tested at auto zone or advance auto parts.dont forget to turn off radio when disconnect negative battery cable.
