1992 kawasaki Vulcan 750 stops running

When idling the bike runs great after warmed up. When i goto ride it, it starts to chug and **** and eventually dies after just a couple blocks. The bike sat in a garage for almost 5 yrs. before i bought it. I've checked and gapped all the plugs. Drained what little gas there was in and put fresh mid grade gas in. Plug wires are good. New battery installed. Ran Sea Foam additive in with the gas hoping that would help but it hasn't. I have a 92' vulcan 750 it starts, it runs, it idles ok. When i take it out it runs strong then after a short period of time it starts to bog and eventually stall. It will not restart unless i let it sit for about an hour. When it restarts it no longer has power. it stalls in a shorter time fram and will not restart again. I let it sit a week and it seemed ok for about 1/2 hour then it started again

Check the intake manifold/s, even a small leak will make it run poor. Being stored for five years then putting it into use, you may have a blocked main jet. Sea-foam is a great product and I would have used that product to store the bike but not to get it running. It is slow acting so it doesnt work like carb cleaner.

Sounds like what you realy need to do is remove the carb jets and give them a good clean , this if I am right is the twin V 8 valve engine with twin Klhein carbs , make sure also your air filter is not dirty and check tank fuel filter ,, other than that you may be intrested in the manuel obtainable from this site

Charging issue with vn750 1986

I need more details. Is it quitting because it fails to get spark because it is not charging? Or are the carburators gummed up enough and it runs out of gas? Has this bike been setting? If you are able to run engine with a battery power supply on it then it wouls seem to me a charging issue, but if it is stalling and only runs with the choke out or partially out, clean the carbs.

Electrical, motorcycle, slap side to make starter work

Sounds like a loose wire in the battery box somewhere. Or even under the seat is where the wires run after leaving the battery box.

Drain gas into container. Pull off your petcock and clean all the junk out (will look like coffee grounds). Look inside your tank for rust and scale, then clean it out thorougly.A small chain dropped inside works wonders for knocking **** loose inside that you can't see or reach. Check for an inline fuel filter between tank and carbs and replace if you have one. Reassemble and put in fresh Premium gas....Good luck to you friend....Tim

1992 Kawasaki 750 Vulcan Shuts Off

It sounds like you are running out of battery, and that is why the bike is quitting.

Have you checked the charging?
Check the battery voltage with a meter after you have charged it. should be 13.5 volts or so. Start the bike, you may have lost a little but the voltage should increase as you watch the volt meter, rev the bike, Any increase?
If there is no increase or if it is decreasing in voltage then I would suspect you charging system.

Hope this is of some help.

Motor shuts off as soon as I start to accelerate.

Might be a fault in the side stand sensor, you cant go far with the side stand out, or if the sensor has not sensed the stand is up.

if you plan to modify your exhaust system you will have to rejet your carbs to compansate. kits are availableat most aftermarket shops.
