Headlight globe size? - 1999 Yamaha Xv 250 Virago S

The headlight globe usually just twists out of the back of the headlight assembly. When fitting the new globe,use a cloth or glove. Don't touch any part of the globe with bare hands as the oily film will cause the new globe to fail very quickly.

There is a large rubber boot that covers the headlight globe . Pull it back, pinch the retainer spring and lift out the H4 globe.

Check the size of the cables coming to your headlight. A higher lamp wattage would require more amperes for the wires to carry.

To replace the front parklight globe on a vt commodore can be a little tricky.

1.turn the lights on to see which 1 is inoperative once you know turn lights off.
2.open bonnet
3.go to side that is inoperative and on the back of the headlight you will see a round large plastic cover turn this to release it.
4.under the headlight globe there will be 2 wires flow these to the park globe socket gently twist and pull it out.
5.once the sockets out and you can see the globe ,pull the globe out of socket.
6.push new globe into socket
7.refit the socket in headlight
8.refit all trims
9.turn lights on make sure new globe is work..

Looking on eBay, or at local auto parts shops you can often find HID kits to suit your bikes globe size. They take a bit of wiring and need a bit of room to mount the ballasts, but they make a great deal of difference if you do a lot of riding at night.
The alternative, of course, is to get a small set of driving lights fitted. I friend of mine had a set of small LED light bars fitted to the front of his KLX450 above the headlight shroud. They aren't too large, and have a small on-off switch on the handlebars linked to the headlight wiring. Best part is LED lights draw less current, and create less heat than conventional globes!

You either have hands the size of an 8 year old child or you have never done this yourself. There is no way to access the connector and manipulate the connector release tabs to remove the globe on the drivers side with the assembly in place, with all the plumbing and water bottle in place. You have to remove the whole front bumper and associated guards etc etc just to replace a globe. Very poor design.

open the bonnet, locate a screw on top of the headlight and undo it, locate two screws between the centre grill and headlight and undo them and locate a screw right behind the headlight assembly and loosen it. Now the whole headlight should come out. It wont come all the way out. By unplugging the electrical plug you can take it out completely. Lift up the lock thats hold the rear headlight cover and that will expose the internals of the headlight and then you can change whatever globe you want. First disconnect the wiring plug from the globe and then release the clip holding the globe and replace the globe and make you sure you dont touch the glass part of the new globe which installing. Touching it will shorten the globes life and there is a chance that it might explode inside and create mess.

Headlight globe, meaning the inside of the headlight? If thats what you mean, only way to do it, is to take the lens off, and in order to do that, you need to take out the headlight, take off the rubber backings and take out the light bulbs. Then preheat your oven to 210 degrees, stick your light in there for 10 minutes, and pry apart the lens, since the glue will melt. Dont forget to undo the clips that also hold the lens to the housing. After you pry off the lens, clean or whatever you need to do. Then reseat the lens and hook the clips, then back in the oven it goes for 10 mins. Then hold pressure on the lens untill glue hardens.

They will not have or sell replacement globes, it will come with the whole headlight.

you need to replace it from the back, if its not accessable try removing afew things if not remove the entire headlight as it must be fitted from the back.
