Excessive carbon on spark plugs which causes to fail

carbon on sparkplugs are caused by oil in the combustion chamber.

here are some things to do:
1. replace the sparkplug
2. replace your head gasket
3. check if your ignition timing is correct (timing in the distributor, camshaft, and crankshaft)

if these does not solve your problem, try this:
1. have your cylinder head checked for leaks/cracks
2. replace your piston rings

lastly, if all of these dont work, this is the solution (but quite pricey)
1. have your head rebored. reboring the cylinder head means making your combustion chamber wider so cracks/leaks on the wall will be removed.
2. after rebore.. you have 2 options: resleeve or replace piston rings. Resleeve means inserting sleeves in the bored chamber to replace the removed part. replacing pistong rings is also an alternative since your old one will not fit anymore ot the rebored head.

Can a kx250 2002 two stroke barrel be rebored or should the sleeve be replaced .

Replace the sleeve is the only option - I think there would not be enough cylinder wall left if you rebored it as it is a sleeved cylinder it relys on the sleeve for extra wall thickness and strength you can rehone the sleeve if it is not too badly scratched you can get honing tools around $80 ish? they fit into cordless drill

I have a 1999 yz 125. i just put new piston and rings in it an they say after a fresh rebuild you do whats called the break in period. an what i am asking is what do i do for the break in? how do you do...

hi, break in period is comonly known as running the bike in, if you have only replaced the piston and rings, and not had the cylinder rebored, then take it easy for a couple of tanks of fuel while the rings bed in, when the cylinder is rebored we run in the machine as the clearences between the piston and cylinder are much tighter, heat seizure can occure when the break in period is ignored. hope this helps , paul
