Hi i have a gilera 50 cc 03 reg it was working fine then it just stoped it has spark all so has comp ..ive even tried to put petrol down the head and then try yo start it it sill wont fire can you help thanks stu.....it is a 50cc not vx 125..
My gilera 50cc turns over but no petrol from carb 2 spark plug help also what is the valve on top of carb with the wire ...............
Don't do the gas down the spark plug thing. It's a bad idea. Do the following >
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).
Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the idle screw and the air screw on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.

Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two adjusters down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each adjuster one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Fuel is getting to the carb, is that right? Get a new plug. The popular plug seems to be NGK Iridium Racing Spark Plug Code: 078-NGKBR9EIX. The site below shows a parts diagram and has the stock plug available (they don't specify what plug it is).

There may or may not be a breather tube from the airbox. The parts guide doesn't seem to show one. If a breather stem is coming out of the casing, just put a vent hose on it and run the hose behind the engine and down so it can vent to the atmosphere.
Be certain the bike has good spark. If fuel is not reaching the carb then clean the tank filter and replace any in-line fuel filter. Check the battery. Look to see if there is water covering the top of the battery plates. If not, add water to cover the top of the plates and charge it overnight with a 1amp charger. A weak battery can mean a weak spark.
The bike may have a side stand kill switch that stops the engine so that you don’t start out with the side stand down.
Broken or out of adjustment, it would make the bike un able to start. Check for a broken wire at the switch or coupler. Get a service manual and check out the electrical section. Some bikes have a diode integrated into the turn signal relay and controling the switch. Check the wiring diagram. If the switch is good then you may need a new relay. A phone call to a dealers’ service department can't hurt. Try moving the switch by hand. If that doesn’t work then wire a jumper around the switch to bypass it. If that doesn’t work, check out the relay.
