Hi there. Can you please give me an idea what could be the cause of my bike spluttering then cutting out after only 5 minutes of riding. It starts normal when cold then dies after riding a short while then I have to wait for an hour or so before it will start. Battery is new. Alternator is charging. I'm convinced its either the ignition module or coils but don't know how to test them.
Is the choke stuck on ?
No choke is good. Am going to check if stator is fried even though it seems to be charging fine.
check rectifier
replaced regulator rectifier. checked stator and its good. now testing coils

Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, pls try recharging the battery again. Remove the connector to the voltage regulator. Start/run the bike. If it lasts more than "3-5 minutes" then you have just confirmed a defective regulator. The voltage regulator would look something like below image.

Just a start, do postback how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Sounds like water in the gas.
ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
For each carb > Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side or bottom of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Put the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.
Please rate this solution. Thanks!

test stator loaded and unloaded, then do voltage drop test
