Cutting out 2009 KTM 250 XCF

2009 KTM 250 xcf-w. First, it started cutting out at under high rpm load at race temp. Would run great at all other rpm levels. On the last ride, that was not an issue, as it would run like a beast in deep sand and high rpm; however, it died on me like 6-7 times. A couple seemed like typical 4 stroke flameouts which have never been an issue in the past; but, the other times the bike would just start bogging like it lost ignition. Then, it would suddenly pick back up. One time, it made stuttering and picked back up. Coil, stator, cdi??? Trying to start at a most likely place to fix it. @

yes, you are correct, those are the two pieces that could solve your problem, but i would go first for your cdi, you may choose to have it tested first also, before you jump out to buy a new one.

Do a compression test, you could have bent a valve.

You need to check for spark when the back cylinder is not firing to see if that is the problem...from there it will be easier to troubleshoot...also check for vacuum leaks.

Stuff is coming out of my ktm 250 xcf black overflow tube. Its pretty big and its spilling pretty thick oily stuff. I have no idea what it is or if its a big problem?


hot /cold makes no difference to the quantity drained out
check the proper fill level as you may have overfilled the sump

2013 KTM XCF-W Will not start.


Yes I to have washed a bike to death.You will need to dry the air filter .Is you bike fuel injected?If so take a hair dryer and warm all the connections concearning spark and fuel injection .You should then put dielecric grease on all your connectors.If you bike is carb model then just drain the float bowl.

What tool can I use to remove my spark plug


You have to use the KTM socket provided in your original tool bag. Or purchase from your dealer. No regular socket will fit because of the clearance issues.
