SOURCE: Where is 2003 Ford Focus ZTW radiator cap?

If your resevoir cap is a screw on cap it is probably the only cap you have most cars nowadays pressurize the resevoir and this is where you add coolant and dont have a rad cap

SOURCE: Where is the radiator cap on 2003 Ford Focus ZTW

I do not believe that there is a radiator cap on the Focus. I believe that the coolant is filled from the what most would consider the overflow tank. It is an overflow tank of sorts but serves also to fill the radiator.

SOURCE: How to pour Radiator stop leak into 1999 VW bug's

I recommend that you do not add this to your radiator unless it is absolutely needed. It will seal the leak, but also seal other passages, especially in the heater core. It will cause more damage in the long run. If the radiator is leaking, replace the radiator.

The antifreeze tank is completely empty what kind of antifreeze should I use and how much do I use

If the reservoir is empty, you may want to start out by draining your radiator completely and starting over. there is a petcock valve at the bottom of the radiator. EPA Says you can't drain it onto the ground, but that's your decision. Anyway.....Buy full strength antifreeze. Take a empty gallon jug (could be a gallon milk jug so you can see more easily) and mix one half antifreeze to one half water.Take the cap off the radiator and add it it there. When it is full, put the cap back on the radiator and crank your vehicle to circulate it.Then start adding the antifreeze/ water mixture to the reservoir. As it goes down keep adding until it levels out at the normally hot line on the reservoir. As for the type of antifreeze........it's basically all the same which is Propylene glycol. CAUTION ! DON"T REMOVE THE RADIATOR CAP AFTER THE ENGINE HAS WARMED UP ! Hope this helps.

How to add antifreeze 2002 dodge intrepid

Open the container of antifreeze. Using a separate EMPTY gallon-size container, pour out HALF of the contents into the empty container, making sure not to spill any. Now, FILL the newly filled container with tap water. Fill the rest of the antifreeze with water, also. Now, you are ready to add antifreeze to your vehicle! Simply locate the radiator cap, (Don't touch it if it's hot!!) and unscrew it. Pour the desired amount of your mixed antifreeze into the radiator. Remember not to do this without proper knowledge!

I think my water pump is out. How would I know

could be the water pump but I would be looking for a larger leak, like a radiator hose, radiator tank split
most water pumps leak a slow dribble and then mostly when running
have a pressure test done on the cooling system to find the exact location of the leak

Where is the radiator on a 99 Chevy Malibu?

Their is no radiator cap that goes directly into radiator. if you do plan on putting barr's leak in it just put it in the coolent tank on the passenger side that is the only way.

My sunfire overheats and leaks out overflow everytime i drivee it.i changed water pump, thermostat the fan is working fine and had a water pressure test done last mth

DID YOU BLEED AIR OUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM.TO BLEED COOLANT SYSTEM, FILL THE COOLANT SYSTEM THROUGH THE RESERVOIR TANK OR THE RADIATOR UNTIL THE FULL COLD MARK IS REACHED.BESURE TO USE 50/50 HALF WATER AND ANTIFREEZE.YOU CAN BUY ANTIFREEZE THAT IS ALREADY PREMIX 50/50.AFTER ADDING ANTIFREEZE TO RESERVOIR OR RADIATOR FILL RADIATOR TO FULL MARK OR IF YOU DONT HAVE RADIATOR CAP ON RADIATOR POUR ANTIFREEZE IN THE OVERFLOW JUG UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STAY THE FULL COLD MARK.WAIT AWHILE UNTIL COOLANT LEVEL STOP DROPPING.NOW INSTALL THE RADIATOR OR OVER FLOW JUG CAP.START THE ENGINE AND ALLOW IT TO RUN UNTIL NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE IS REACHED AND THE UPPER RADIATOR HOSE BECOME HOT.STOP THE ENGINE AND OBSERVE THE COOLANT LEVEL IN THE OVERFLOW JUG. THE COOLANT LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE FULL HOT LINE.ALLOW THE ENGINE TO COOL UNTIL THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE IS REACHED THEN CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL IT SHOULD BE AT OR ABOVE THE FULL COLD LINE.ADD MORE COOLANT IF NECESSARY. WARNING BECAREFUL WHEN OPEN THE RADIATOR CAP OR JUG OVER FLOW CAP.USE A LARGE RAG OVER THE RADIATOR CAP TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.OPEN RADIATOR CAP A LITTLE AT A TIME TO KEEP FROM GETTING SCALDED.WAIT UNTIL ENGINE COOL DOWN BEFORE OPENING RADIATOR CAP OR OVERFLOW JUG CAP.WEAR SAFETY GLASSES.

The radiator was emptied out and i want to add antifreeze and water? there are 2 areas that say antifreeze goes here?

  • One is the radiator and the other is an overflow tank. Sometimes anti freeze will back pressure a bit and need somewhere to go and other times the antifreeze gets low in the radiator. That is the purpose of the radiator.
  • Put the antifreeze in the radiator fist and then add to the reservoir. Pay attention to the cold/hot level fill on the overfill tank.
  • You need to find out where all that antifreeze went to if the radiator was empth. Pull the dipstick and look for a chocolate milk look on the oil. This would be a head gasket or a cracked head.
  • Otherwise keep an eye out for a leak and repair it soon.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

I already found the main problem with my mustang the upper radiatior hose is cracked. i was just wondering if that would cause antifreeze to wind up all over the engine and the ground because i can't find...

yes that is your problem, the antifreeze is filled through the tank and runs into your radiator to cool and then through the top hose into you engine and then back to the radiator bottom hose

My temperature gage is going over in the red and my heat is not

Check the sensor which controls the cooling fans that cools the radiator it prevents the engine from over heating and allows the temp gauge to stay at normal range.recently had problems with my 2003 impala overheating it was the sensor had the thermostat replace as well.
