If you are in neutral or park and its popping then either you have engine mechanical problems like a hydraulic lifter not properly lubricated or a main bearing going bad. But if accelerating and it pops only, then it sounds like a bad constant velocity knuckle going bad. More details!!!

Could be your CV joint, on that axle, is bad. It usually makes a popping and clicking sound when it is worn and needs replacing.

Does it only do it while your turning,or while going in a straight line?

Sounds like it is a "lean" pop. Do you have any engine check lights on the dash ? Plug in an OBD II reader to find any codes.

Are you sure you don't hear anything like a chirping sound when the engine is idling? Have you popped the hood and listened while the engine was idling? Have a friend sit in the driver's seat while you pop the hood, tell them to press the accelerator and then listen for the squeal. I would bet dollars to donuts the problem is the serpentine belt is worn and needs to be replaced.
