Where sparkplug connects to coil is broke off coil itself. will I need a new coil or whole new ignition?

It really depends where you have broken it, you can get repair cables for the ht lead, if it is broken at the ignition unit it will be a bit more difficult, you could try glueing it as it only needs to be in the right place for the spark to transfer along the ht lead.

I think if you have ordered a new ignition coil without give-up the serialnumber and year of build of the engine as the most important cause in this kind of disappointments because often there can be made a modification on the coil AND flywheel. both on new models and even the sparkplug changed for better heat degree
Some sellers have are not interesting and often do not know about it themselves, but giving the details on forehand there shall be a book opened. in the differences about modifications.
By themselves they do not usually, as long as it sells, because marketing technical based modifications are common on much technical tools and instruments.

If the right sparkplug and coil and the right flywheel are used then its impossible it will not function IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE ' on / off ' SWITCH ...

It may be too simple but I have to ask, are you using a known good sparkplug, high tension lead and plug cap? Next is either the source coil isn't providing power to the "Black Box" or the pickup coil isn't sending a signal to the box to fire the sparkplug or finally the box itself is defective. To test further you will need a Shop Manual or Clymers manual and a VOM (Volt-Ohm Meter).

The good thing is no fire. This happens when there is a severe misfire mainly with the ignition system. A blown head gasket cannot make this happen. The ignition fired out of sequence, a jumped timing belt will cause the vehicle timing to ****** so a timing belt is not the issue.Your solution and the fix is get a whole new distributor with a cap and rotor(the rotor internally broked) sparkplug wires new sparkplugs . A plugged catalytic will cause the car to have no power when acclerating , you didnt blow the engine a blown engine cannot cause a glowing manifold. only a good engine can

If selled some capacitor or new ignition parts order it always with statement of the serial motornumber and the year of build , because of modifications on marketing technical dicisions can be made for your engine, that can prevent a next disappointment. may be for the problem a new sparkplug the supression capacitor can also be bad a bad sparkplug connection cable .are some small sugestions.

Have you checked that the ignition switch is on. If so, then check the oil level. Then take the sparkplug out and replace. If still no spark, the ignition coil may be faulty. Take the sparkplug out of motor and rest it on the outside of the hole. Slowly pull the motor over and you should be able to see a spark coming from the sparkplug. If there is no spark then there will be a problem with the ignition coil. Put new ignition coil on and test.

check all efi and ign fuses first...then check pickup coil and ignition coil in distributor w/ ohm meter...since you already replace the ignitor, then mostly likely it's the pickup coil or ignition coil...buy the whole

Ignition Coil Removal & Installation 4.2L Engine To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • The ignition coil electrical connector
   • The spark plug wires (marking for reinstallation) CAUTION
     Each sparkplug wire must be connected to its correct ignition coil terminal.
     
   • The ignition coil
   • The bolts
3. Inspect the ignition coil for carbon tracks or damage.

To Install:

1. Inspect the ignition coil for carbon tracks or damage.
2. Install or connect the following:
   • The bolts
     1. Torque To: 53 inch-lbs (6 Nm) (2005-2006)
     2. Torque to: 62 inch-lbs (7 Nm) (2007)
     CAUTION
     Each sparkplug wire must be connected to its correct ignition coil terminal.
     
   • The spark plug wires (marking for reinstallation)
   • The ignition coil electrical connector
   • The ignition coil

4.6L and 5.4L Engines To Remove:

1. Before servicing the vehicle refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
2. Remove or disconnect the following:
   • The negative battery cable
   • The ignition coil electrical connector
   • The ignition coil retaining bolt
3. Rotate the ignition coil clockwise 30-40 degrees to clear the fuel injection supply manifold.
4. Remove the ignition coil with a twisting motion while pulling up.

To Install:

1. Install or connect the following:
   • Dielectric compound to the inside of the coil boots
   • The ignition coil with a twisting motion while pushing down
   • The ignition coil retaining bolt
     1. Torque to 53 inch-lbs (6 Nm) for (4.6L 2004 and 5.4L 2004-2007)
     2. Torque to 89 inch-lbs (10 Nm) for (4.6L 2005-2007)
   • The ignition coil electrical connector
   • The battery ground cable

NOTE: Ensure that the ignition coil spring is correctly located inside the ignition coil boot and that there is no damage to the tip of the boot.

YOU MAY NEED TO CHANGE THE SPARKPLUGS, / CHECK THE BATTERY LEEDS ARE NOT WORE OR BROKE/ CHECK BATTERY TERMINALS ARE CLEAN AND TIGHT/ CHECK THAT THE HT LEADS ARE SECURELY CONNECTED TO THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP / CHECK THAT THE HT LEAD TO THE IGNITION COIL IS SECURELY CONNECTED/ CHECK THAT THE LT WIRING PLUG AT THE IGNITION COIL IS SECURELY CONNECTED .
