I just purchased a 04 Kaw. Drifter. It came standard with a solo seat, but Kawasaki has offered a double seat for customers that wanted to be able to carry a passenger. My question is this: is extra hardware needed to switch out the solo seat to a double? My suspicion is yes, as the Drifter has a very unique suspension and rear fender. The fender is actually just plastic and cannot support a seat with passenger. So, if extra hardware is needed, does Kawasaki still offer it (they no longer offer the seat) and how much does it cost?
Yep you need some extra hardware to support the passenger. I've looked for about 30 minutes and I can't find one where I always go.....Ha I found one!

if this doesn't work it is ronayers.com click OEM parts on the left tab and click online microfiche, then go kawasaki - motorcycles and then go from there selecting your bike............so now your looking at a long list of categories huh........click optional parts and there it is
you need 35011A, 32046, 132A (2) to have a seat.....as far as the other parts that entirely up to you....of course your going to need the bolts as well but you can buy them at your local hardware store cheaper than on here but thats up to you
I hope this helps.......skim that picture and choose what you want or need I dunno if you have the passenger pegs or not and so on and so fourth.........hope to see your riding one day they are great bikes!
