Question about 1998 Suzuki GSX-R 750 W

1 Answer

98 gsxr cuts out around eight g when accelerating but fine in N

My 98 gsxr 750 cuts out at about eight thousand when im accelerating fast it cuts out a few times then if i pull the clutch in when its cutting out and keep on the gas a little bit the tach bounces per say without even hitting the rev limit then ill just coast for a second or two and then get on it again and the problem repeats itself. it does it real bad at about 90mph it will not go past 115 in any gear it just cuts out real bad but when just sittin in netural it will rev all the way to red line everytime when doing a burnout the tach will bouce as though its hittin red line but only hits eight to ten thousand rpm could it be an air leak i checked for vaccuum leaks, appeared to be none. it idles fine usually does fine on the highway at legal speeds but will get an occassinal cut out its fuel injected with new plugs.

that was my idea it does have the fuel pressure its supposed at idle or in neutral i just havent got to test it under a load but im hoping the fuel filter is the problem because its seems to get worse when its low on fuel so ill take a look thanks a bunch

i went on a road trip the other day on my bike and the low fuel light came on but only found regular unleaded so i put it in there(having prmium already in the tank)and it started running better but not great yesterday i put little under two gallons of premium back in it well today i rode a little bit still cut out after a few hours me and someone got on and took off still cut out later went for a ride and it ran like a dream like perfect but was smoking a little, five minutes later took off again and it started cutting out low fuel light came on filled it up with premium not only did it start cutting out but worse should i put regular unleaded in it?

i solved the problem it was the neutral safety switch on the kick stand it didnt push it in far enough so the bike kept dying for like split seconds so it would stay running but seem to cut out so i fixed it thanks for the help runs like a dream

Sounds like you're running out of fuel. It doesn't take much power (ie, fuel) to rev it in neutral, which might explain why it does that fine but falls over under load. Checked your fuel pressure/pump/filter?

Runs and starts fine but will not rev over 9,000 rpms, in neutrol or going down the road, runs great, starts great, revs good till 9,000. wont go over lke it cuts out. idles good. what is it, 98 gsxr 750...

First impression was why would anyone rev their motorcycle to 9 grand in neutral? I could see if you were in gear clutch pulled and ready for a "drag" or Race Start but in neutral?

Anyway I can't hear it so if the sound is like it hits 9k and starts popping then two things either an over rev limiter which I doubtr because the engine red lines at 13,500 OR you have a set of spark plugs breaking down under load

No power getting to starter on my 1995 suzuki gsxr 750 motorcycle

I would look at the safety cut out system. (Clutch switch, side stand switch, neutral switch and the starter switch). next look at the starter relay.
