Question about 2004 Husaberg Fe 650 e

Husaberg 04 650fe when at operating temp this bike is unstopable, it does everything well. . BUT. . it will not fire up cold short of running the battery flat 3-4 times n kickin it over for half hour. . .everything mechanical & electrical has been reset & or replaced. . . .help! its doin my head in!

    u guys are a joke! cost me 20bucks for advice from a first year apprentice.... experts my arse, when it got to hard u bailed. . .

Get a new battery. It is probably not holding a full charge overnight and only gives a weak spark when morning comes.

    Add water to the battery. Enough to cover the plates in each cell.
    The battery may be on its' last legs. Charge it with a 1 or 2 amp charger, If it won't take a charge and hold it then it's time for a new battery. Just because a battery has SOME power does't mean it has ENOUGH power to give a good spark after sitting overnight. If you have already replaced the battery it was't specifically stated in the original posting.

    Sorry if I stated only the most likely cause of the starting problem. I understand how frustrating a bike can be. The information below is a compilation coming directly from the 2004 Husaberg service manual.

    Install a new stock spark plug and set the gap to 6mm. Clean the carburetor paying special attention to the idle circuit. Move the jet needle clip one notch lower. Clean or replace the air filter. Install new intake manifold gaskets to eliminate any possible air leaks. Use the choke when starting. Re-set valve lash to manufacturers specifications. Check compression with a thought to lapping the valves to get a better valve seat. Get a spray can of starting fluid. Check the high tension lead. It should be clean and a tight fit. Check all other electrical connections. Be sure they are all clean and tight. Check the connection of the CDI, the pulse generator may have oxidation. Be sure the battery terminals are clean and tight as well.

    Check the de-compression cable adjustment. If the engine is flooded then use the de-compressor. Check the Hot Start device. It should be pushed inward. Check to be sure the accelerator pump is functioning properly. As a result of engine vibrations, the throttle valve, jet needle and needle jet are subjected to increased wear. This wear may cause the carburetor to malfunction. Therefor these parts should be replaced every 200 hours of operation.

Hi, Lance and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead-acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Faulty run/off switch
11. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
12. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Turn Signals Won't Work

Using volt meter to verify polarity for each wire from your dads bike to yours,could help.Also try removing the bulb from each socket try them one side at a time (left bulbs then rite bulbs), not sure about them working when off but sounds like power coming from wrong source(battery),should be on the ignition circuit. compare to your fathers bike!

Backfire when I get off the throttle and down shifting

no your totally wrong the backfire is bcause if u juice the throttle there is excess fule in the cylinders witch give it no where to go so it ignights and creates a backfire witch is not necessarly bad.

1981 650 poor excelleration

not enough to go on, but these were not slow bikes. try plugs, mucky carbs, carb jets, air filter.... take out plugs, any dirty black while others are clean or white? start bike from cold, run very short while and turn off. carefully feel exhaust pipes at top, are thay all same temp? one or two not getting warm? watch you don't burn your hands....will tell you if all cyliders firing ok.

Won't start when at operating temp

you may want to inspect the oil viscosity, you should be running 15w40 anything else may be to thin and when it warms up will not provide enough pressure to activate injectors, it could also be a high pressure oil leak, when warm the oil leaks faster and the pump at cranking speeds is not turning fast enough to create enough pressure to activate injectors, but when running is able to turn fast enough.

If your bike was exposed to very hot or very cold weather for awhile that would be sufficient to weaken your battery. Heat and cold can drain a battery of power so it's important to check the battery hydro levels frequently and run a trickle charge during off-season.,,,

Running better in cold

Cold air is denser and you'll get more air in the bike and the engine compensates with more fuel. It's cold as hell at 20F outside but damn does the bike run crisp!,,
