Re: where is the engine number located on a 1500 kawasaki...
It's stamped on the *left* side of the crankcase - on the kickstand side. It's between the frame and the crankcase so you need to view it from an angle; looking from the front. Wipe it clean first and and bring a flashlight...

The VIN is the frame number. There should be 17 alpha numeric digits if the bike was manufactured after 1982. Find the frame number then go to the site below. If the number has been altered or read incorrectly, the site will tell you " Check validation sum failed". Good luck getting a new title. They will want to know where the original title is and why your name isn't on that title.
This is a problem with your title. I'd consult the DMV about this. Here, as long as the VIN is correct as it appears on the frame, everything is fine. Some states use the engine number as their VIN number. Either way, the VIN should be the same as the one on your bike. Talk to the DMV about this.
There are 2 main locations where the nomenclature plate is located on all motorcycle type vehicles. Main location; on the front of the frame between the front forks. Secondary location; on the frame under the seat. If your plate is missing from both locations you may be able to obtain the VIN# by using the frame number ( stamped into frame, usually next to motor) and engine serial number ( stamped into engine on bottom side. Failing these measures, your friend will need to go to the DMV and do a registration search for all vehicles registered in his name - you'll also need the approximate date of first registration to assist the DMV in locating the proper vehicle. Hope this helps!
It should be located on the right hand side of the down tube. Turn the handle bars to the left and look on the right side of the down tube. If it is not there or has been filed off most likely it is hot.
YES, THE VIN NUMBER IS NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THE DRIVERS' SIDE. IT CAN BE SEEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. ANOTHER LOCATION IS ON THE DRIVERS' DOOR BY THE DOOR CATCH OR STRIKE PLATE. OK NOW FOR THE ENGINE NUMBER, LOOK UNDER THE HOOD FOR A WHITE STICKER. ON THIS STICKER TOWARDS THE BOTTOM IS THE ENGINE INFORMATION. GOOD LUCK
