Need the firing order on a 700 xj "85" yamaha

The coils are set up as follows
Left coil, Orange lead wire: Cylinders 1&4(outside cylinders)
Right coil, Gray lead wire: Cylinders 2&3 (inside cylinders)

The firing order is 1-2-4-3. Number 1 cylinder is the left hand one as you sit on the bike, number 4 the right. HTH

1981 LTD 750. What is the firing order?

The left coil goes to 2&3, the right coil goes to 1&4. This is as sitting on the bike cylinders from left to right 1,2,3,4. It doesn't matter which is connected to which cylinder (upper or lower on the coil) as long as left coil is connected to 2 and 3 and right is 1 and 4 as above. Once it is running correctly I would recommend marking the leads 1-4. This is done as standard at factory, but replacement parts don't always do this.

How do i wire the coils on my 78 suzuki gs 750. spark plug order which spark plug wire goes where??

There are 2 coils. The coil on the left provides spark for cylinders 1 & 4. The coil on the right provides spark for cylinders 2 & 3. The firing order is 1-2-4-3.
In case you don't know, this little tidbit is something to carry with you for life: Whenever a reference is made to a place in or on a vehicle, it is ALWAYS the perspective "from-left-to-right" of the seated vehicle operator.
In other words, in your case, as you're sitting on the bike, cylinder #1 is the one furthest to your left, and #4 is furthest to your right.

i would actually replace the caps and leads on side not working, a bad connection may still spark when not under pressure, then test coil before i think about cdi

I need to know what the cylinder # are and what the fireing order is

In the 4 cylinder the firing order is 1,3,4,2 and the cylinders are numbered 1,2,3,4 from the Passenger side to the drivers side.

In a V6 the firing order is 1,6,5,4,3,2 and the cylinders are numbered 1,3,5 in the front from the passenger side to the drivers side and 2,4,6 in the back from the passengers side to the drivers side.

How do i set up the coils /wots the write firing order. for my nc23

You have two coils each with two plug leads. (usually have numbers on them) One coil runs cylinders 1 & 4. The other coil runs 2 & 3. Cylinders are numbered 1 to 4, left to right (sitting on the bike) You will have two wires running to each coil. one of these is common and will be the same colour for each coil. The other wire will be a different colour for each coil. Match the colour wire with the pickup inside the ignition cover. These pickups are usually marked 1-4 or 2-3

Hi, I have a 1998 cbr 600f3. There are 2 coils on this bike for 4 cylinders and two wires coming in and 2 coming out(spark plug wires going out). I can only get one side of both coils to fire so the bike...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

On the 2 ignition coils:
  • two wires coming in - black/white carries/supplies IGN + 12 to both coils and the ignition control module. Coil1 (left) is connected to the ICM by the yellow/blue wire while coil2 (right) is connected through the blue/yellow wire;
  • 2 coming out - left coil powers 1 & 4 while right coil powers 2 & 3;
  • 1 &4 will fire together; so with 2 &3.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Getting my bike started

Hi,
The # 1 cyl is on the left side as you are sitting on the bike. Firing order does not really apply to these motors as the coils fire twice per cyl. The left coil will fire 1 & 4 the right coil will fire 2 & 3. I usually hook them up as follows: Left outer to #1, Left inner to #4, Right inner to #2, and Right outer to #3
