Question about 1985 Honda VT 500 C

1 Answer

Honda VT500EF, 1983-1988, flasher unit wiring.

Hi, I need to run new wiring from the flasher unit to the back indicators as there is a fault with the existing wiring.  My problem is that I do not know which wires correspond to which indicator as there are only 3 wires coming out of the flasher unit so I assume this feeds back and front and left and right but which one does which?
Any help would be appreciated.

The flasher unit is made to flash 12 volts on and off only. The turn signal switch is what is used to direct that flashing 12 volts to the proper signals.
The flasher unit:
First wire is a ground. Middle wire is the send to the turn signal switch. The last wire is 12v positive (with key on). When you flip the switch to the left, it makes a connection between the left turn signals and the middle wire of the flasher unit. The flasher unit then "sees' a load and starts flashing 12v on and off at the middle wire. When you flip the switch right, it makes the connection between the right signals and the middle wire of the flasher unit. Again, the flasher unit "sees" a load and starts flashing.

Hi can you tell me my indicators is not working checked fuse and all conections seems ok still noting working

Hi, Try to locate the flasher relay and check if there is any +ve supply reaching it. If not the fault is in the supply line to it. ( duff switch, broken wire, corroded plug and socket) If there is a +ve supply and both sets of indicators are not working it is most likely the flasher relay itself that is faulty. Easiest way to check is to replace the unit. Most units are cheap to replace.
Hope this helps.

Honda cbr indicators all flashing

Hi, led bulbs have much lower power consumption than common bulbs. Usualy when you change for this type of bulbs you also need an apropriate flasher wich you did, but question the suplier about it. another solution is to instar a resistance just before the bulb in order to increase ohms ans all be normal again.
good luck

Hi I have replaced all 4 indicators on my dr650es 2006 with led indicators and wired in a new flasher unit . The problem is that now all the indicators flash together regardless of wheather the switch is...

I had same issue, replaced different flasher to no avail. Reconnected with common earth loop and still no joy. Then I realised I still had an incandescent globe in the dash. I disconnected this and indicaters then worked fine. I reverted back to the original type blinkers after a while, as the mini led's were hardly ever seen clearly it seemed. For safety sake I run smaller stock shaped incandescant lights again. They are very bright.

How to connect buzzer to indicators on Honda Deauville 700 motorcycle

if you have a single dash indicator on your bike you can pick up the signal from there.
If not you can install two small buzzers or one buzzer with a diode to each of the signals, this will prevent a back feed and flashing all the lamps.

Hope this helps.

Indicator problem

The flasher unit is called the TSSM module. It is a combined flasher and alarm unit. A new one will require your alarm keyfobs to be matched to it. An expensive unit if faulty. If you replaced the earth wires and now its blowing fuses, then I would check your work. The fault has changed after you worked on the vehicle so logic dictates you have caused this. The black wire is usually the earth on these indicators but it is a possibility that these are routed through the TSSM module. You might have done damage if this is so.
