Question about Suzuki GSX-R 1000 Motorcycles
Bike was runing fine,went to back out of tlr.an it just cut off like you had switched it off. an now all it does is turn over,it acts like a switch is keeping it from firing.have checked all the fuses an thay are good. Anyone out there got any ideals on my problem????
Once up on a time, something similar happened to me. In my case, a pin broke on the cam shaft and as a result, the time was way way off. Checking for spark in this case does no good because I had strong evidence of spark ... it was only that the spark was not on time. Sometimes in this situation, you will get a back fire depending on when the spark happens. In my case I didn't get back fire ... only smell of gas and no run.

Either that or the relay that connects the positive lead to the starter is shorted. If you can get into the relay, you may be able to hold the contacts open if the switch is shorted or the contacts may have welded themselves together

That's the Suzuki SASS sensor which stands for Suzuki Anti Squid Sensor which tells its owners to stop popping wheelies on their 700 pound cruiser.

Sort of sounds like a Twilight Zone kind of problem doesn't it. I would have the battery checked for an internal dead short. This is something that happens on odd occasions and can happen even to a new battery. Yea, the little lights will work ( they do not draw much juice ), but the starter motor draws a lot of juice and a shorted battery just ain't got it. Also check the wiring harness connections. One loose connection can cause bunches of trouble.

Obviously the CDI is picking up power from the starter button. Check the ignition key switch for proper operation. Chances are that whatever fried the loom also fried part of the switch. Alternate to that, trace the wire powering the CDI system, disconnect it at the source (starter button connection), then find a power source that is live only when the key is turned on and then hook the CDI wire up there.

check your YICS box for leaks. 1. There is a seperation in the middle of the box, check for visible possible leaks. If you seem to have nothing visible, put a plastice tube in one side and the other. Block one end of a tube and blow into the other. You should get resistance as if no air is able to escape. Youcan also take one tube and place it in a continer of water. When you blow into the other end you should get NO BUBBLES; if you do there is a leak. You can use a high temp gasket maker to re-seal the box, make sure of course that you keep the gasket aterial ONLY where it is needed to keep the compartments seperated as they are. After these tests there is a way to re-seal the center seperation but it requires a band saw and a perfect cut down the center of that seperation. Please! do not attempt this without more information as a mistake will most likely ruin the box.
